To tell you a bit about my story……I had a tubal reversal and we were ttc and did get pregnant on the 6th try only to have a m/c. I did progesterone oil that month and stopped caffeine, I think my progesterone might be low. I told my OB all this but she would never do any testing for anything.

So we stopped TTC after that due to me being in clinicals at school but not we are about to start ttc again. I am taking a progesterone only b-control, and I have been really happy with them so far. I have only been on them about a month and 1 week. I think I ovulated about a week ago. I am not sure if I will get AF or not while on them but I am planning to stop taking them in another week or when I do get AF whichever comes first.

So what I am wondering is the pills I take now are they the same thing the Ob gives you to take after Oing when trying to get pregnant or are they different? The stuff I have is called Norethindrone (Nora-B).35M .

I hope this all makes sense.

No...it is definitely not the same. I am taking it now (5mg tablets) to shut down my reproductive system in preparation for a frozen embryo transfer. Here is a brief description from the National Institutes of Health:

______________________________

Norethindrone

Why is this medication prescribed?

Norethindrone is used to treat endometriosis, a condition in which the type of tissue that lines the uterus (womb) grows in other areas of the body and causes pain, heavy or irregular menstruation (periods), and other symptoms. Norethindrone is also used to treat abnormal periods or bleeding and to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life). Norethindrone is also used as a test to see if the body is producing certain female hormones (natural substances that affect the uterus). Norethindrone is in a class of medications called progestins. It works by stopping the lining of the uterus from growing and by causing the uterus to produce certain hormones.

Norethindrone is also used to prevent pregnancy. Norethindrone is sold under different brand names and is taken in smaller amounts when it used to prevent pregnancy.

If you think you have low progesterone, you should probably ask your doctor to test your progesterone at 7DPO.
