What is the name of the medication you use for this?
When during your cycle is it done?
What other meds are you using to TTC when you use a trigger shot?

What is the name of the medication you use for this? it's an HCG shot normally, ovidrel and pregnyl are the two main ones
When during your cycle is it done? just prior to ovulation, as it induces ovulation. So normally between CD10 and CD17 or so, depending on your cycle. Most doctors do some form of monitoring to track the time for the trigger, and then 36 hrs post trigger(approximately) you will ovulate
What other meds are you using to TTC when you use a trigger shot? some form of ovulation inducement is normal(clomid, femara/letrozole, gonal-f, follistim, bravelle, menopur, etc) but they can also be done on unmedicated cycles when it's needed to time ovulation.

I'm not 100% sure if this is one of those posts where you're supposed to answer about yourself (like Two for Tuesday!) or if this is looking for a wide array of information just to be shared with everyone... So I'll just give you my experience
What is the name of the medication you use for this? My doc prescribes Ovidrel. It's a teeny little shot in the belly and wasn't bad at all. My symptoms were very mild. I spent a couple days just CONVINCED I was pregnant, I just had "that glow," but then I realized it was because of all the hCG in my body
When during your cycle is it done? The nurse at my doc's office administered my shot 7 days after I finished my Clomid.
What other meds are you using to TTC when you use a trigger shot? I had Clomid, then took estrogen between the Clomid and the trigger, and am now on 200mg progesterone suppositories 2x/day.
What's your story?
ETA: I just read your other thread. Are you thinking of trying Clomid next time or something?

I've always used Ovidrel and take it the night before my IUI. I think I ovulate about 24-48 after taking the shot. I have used it on both Clomid and injectable cycles...

Hello everyone I am new to forum. However ttc. for this month my Doc placed me on Tomaxifen from days 3-7 then went in for ultra sound on the 15th size 12f when back today for second ultra sound 17mm was told to wait until monday for another ultra sound but by mid-day doc office called to let me know my hormones are surging to ovulate. based on blood work. Took my tigger shot ovidrel. my question is i was cramping felt like ovulation pain did i miss my ovulation time does it matter with tigger shot taken during time of ovulation pain. if i did miss this time will the trigger make me ovulation within this cycle again? when trigger shot is taken do you mate right away or not?

If you are already surging when you trigger, it just speeds up ovulation and ensures that the follicle releases. You should definitely have sex shortly after the trigger unless you are doing an IUI, then your doctor will tell you when the timing needs to be.

thanks Jen. appreciate the feed back. I was not sure of timing, because Doc told me to mate over the next three days.
