What did your family tell you about Santa? How long did you believe in Santa Clause? What do you/will you tell your own kids?

My family did the whole shebang with Santa. My dad says I started getting suspicious around 5. Not sure exactly when I knew... I'd say probably by 7 or 8. I had been suspecting and I caught my mom wrapping presents one night. Part of me thinks that maybe she had purposely been a little careless because she was getting tired of being Santa and hoped I would catch her.

That cracks me up

We always opened presents as a family on Christmas Eve. We ate supper, went to church, and then came home to open presents. Our big present was always from my Mom and Dad. We left cookies and milk for Santa, and he came that night and filled our stockings. When we woke up, they were full of goodies and we could open them as soon as everyone was awake.

Claire is too little to understand so far, so DH and I don't really have a plan. She knows about Santa and can say "Ho ho ho" but she doesn't know to expect presents, yet.

I still believe in Santa at least in the spirit and magic of Santa. My parents never told us the full truth, just talked about the spirit of is and such. thats what we'll do. the rule at our house is as long as you believe, you receive. you stop believing, santa doesn't fill your stocking.

I think my parents kind of told us the traditional Santa stuff. I can't remember when my sister and I stopped believing, but I guess it would probably be around 7 or so. I know that I was a big present snoop and found some presents in my mom's closet and when I opened them up on Christmas morning, they said that they were from "Santa". Kind of gave it away :/

We were always allowed to open one smallish present on Christmas Eve, then we would go to church and then have the big family Christmas party. Everything else was opened on Christmas morning. We will be continuing this with Alex.
