We aren't going to Syracuse after all. We had planned on going, but with they way both of us have been feeling (we're both sick) we aren't going anywhere. I really don't want to deal with a 5 hour road trip to NY. Thankfully I planned a Christmas Dinner just in case.
And off topic, but I never realized how dangerous carpeted stairs can be. I just fell down and busted a vein in my foot. Hurt like no other!
And on a different topic, do you ladies have any tips for when I go in for my HSG? I haven't had AF come yet, but I'm already getting pretty nervous about it. Do I need someone to drive me home afterwards? Should I get my husband to go with me? Does it hurt?
Thanks ladies!

I'm sorry that you guys aren't feeling well, but yay that you are staying home for Christmas! We are, too, and I think it will be the most relaxing Christmas I have had in a long time.
I can't even count the number of times I have almost fallen down our stairs, so you aren't alone. Hope the vein feels better soon...sounds painful!
You'll hear different things from different people about the HSG. Mine was like a pap...maybe a slight pinch as the catheter was going in, but that is about it. I had a few mild cramps afterwards, but not even as bad as my AF cramps. I went alone, went to Walgreens afterwards to peruse the cosmetics, and then went back to work. No sweat.
A lot of docs will recommend 800mg ibprofen an hour before the procedure just in case, but it is totally up to you.
Good luck!!

I took motrin before mine (per my RE recommendations). But I agree with Melissa, a slight pinch and some light cramping and spotting, but not bad at all. I went back to work afterward.

Little tiny fast pinch and then two mild cramps that last abut 2 seconds. The entire proceedure lasted about 15 seconds total. No worries. I still would take the 800 mg of Advil though just to make it super comfortable like we are explaining.
Good Luck. You really have nothing to worry about.

:hugs: Hope you guys are feeling better soon. I tripped down the stairs 3.5 weeks ago and broke my foot, they are dangerous!
As for the HSG, I've had two and both times I drove myself home(first time was a 5 minute drive, second time an hour drive and I actually went in to work after). I take the suggested motrin before and tylenol after and they aren't bad. For me the worst part is getting through my cervix because my cervix and uterus are tipped. The cramping afterward isn't pleasant, but its not awful. Make sure you take your own pad for afterwards, my hospitals have always had the gigantic diaper like ones and i hate those, lol.

Thanks ladies! It's comforting to know that I won't be in extreme pain afterwards. I'll have a 45 minute drive home so I didn't want to take any chances if I was going to be in a ton of pain. But, now I can go without Jesse being there, so that's good!

Shasta - after my HSG was over I didn't have any cramping or anything. It was like it didn't even happen. I hope you have the same results.
Good luck!

Good luck! When is your hsg scheduled for? I've never had one so I can't offer any input, sorry. But it sounds like it is a pretty common thing since so many of you have had one.

It hasn't been scheduled yet. I just had AF come today so I called the office to get everything set up. They are going to do it between cycle day 5-10 so sometime soon along with day 3 blood work (that will most likely be done on Monday).

Mine was CD7. They do them before CD10 so it doesn't disrupt any chances of BFP for that current cycle. I bet yours will be this week in the next couple of days. Good Luck.

Mine was like an intense pap. Not too painful, just uncomfortable. Lots of leaking dye after. I took an Aleve before and it helped. I drove myself.

Just had my HSG today! It really was nothing. The only problem they ran into was that my cervix was tilted, so they had to apply some pressure to get my cervix to move so they could insert the catheter. It was just a little pinch, felt them blow up the balloon which was very interesting to feel, and then some cramping as the dye was inserted. But, they said my fallopian tubes look beautiful and it doesn't look like they have any blockages in them. So yay!!!!

A Sono is where they put a catheter inside your uterus and insert water to check for masses like polyps, fibroids, etc. The water makes it easy to see if anything is in there. You never know, i could possibly still have some fetal tissue left over from my miscarriage (highly unlikely though!) and that may be the reason why I haven't been able to get pregnant.

Sorry to hear about your foot. Hope it heals soon.
As for the HSG, I didn't feel any pain although mine was done with just saline.
I didn't have any cramps either. I just felt the push of the saline flooding, but no pain.
Good luck!
