I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 14. I had very few signs and symptoms. I ran cross country and was a competitive swimmer, so my weight was never an issue (until I got older and more sedentary), no acne, pretty normal periods...the only thing that stuck out as odd was a little bit of hair growth on my jaw line. My mom brought me to a dermatologist to discuss it and he referred me back to my pediatrician. They ran some tests, did an ultrasound and the diagnosis of PCOS was confirmed. At the time, at 14 years old, it really did not mean anything to me. However, when my pedi told me that I might never get pregnant...that did hit a nerve, even being so young. I always knew that I wanted children. The fear that I might never have my own child was pretty much with me from that day on. I even discussed this with Dan before we got married. I wanted to give him an "out". It was a very tough load to handle, especially at such a young age. Dan, however, it a wonderful person and husband. He's my rock
We began ntnp in July of 2007. However, I also began a new (very stressful) job that year, so we really weren't even doing a very good job of NTNP. We began "really" trying in July of 2008, but to no avail.
I had my first appointment with our RE in December 2008. We did one round of 50mg of Clomid and became pregnant straight away! I couldn't believe it was so easy! We didn't even do an IUI. Sadly, we miscarried at around 5 1/2 weeks. I was devastated. But I was also happy that I got pregnant at all.
The next cycle, we did 100 mg of Clomid and IUI. That cycle was negative. The cycle after, we did 150mg of Clomid and I pretty much failed to produce any good follicles. To make matters worse, I was having very bad and serious side effects from the Clomid. I was having severe vision changes-which is a rare s/e. I was told that I could never do Clomid again because those vision changes could prove irreversible. Fortunately, mine went away after a month or so.
After that, we switched to injections...Gonal F, Lupron and IUI. We also had ovarian drilling prior to that. We got pregnant right away with Alex!!!
So that's my story....hoping the same protocol is lucky for us again!

We got married in August '06 - started trying November '07. My DH had a feeling that he would have some issues. In July '08 we went to my OB - she ordered some tests - I was completely normal - my DH not so much - very low count along with low motility and morphology. He did a repeat with the same results. In Oct '08 we did our first IUI - BFN - same with the one in Dec. After that we started talking IVF since our counts post wash for IVF were 357,000 and 950,000. We did our first IVF w/ ICSI in April '09 - we transferred two blasts and got pregnant with one baby - she's now almost 2
After she was born we didn't really prevent at all - never got pregnant naturally (surprise surprise). We did our second IVF w/ ICSI in Sept/Oct '11 - transferred 2 blasts and ended up pregnant with 1 baby - we're due in June
Hi ladies, I haven't been active on the boards in awhile, but I feel like TTCMA is my "home". Here is my story...
DH and I started trying in March 2010, and 5 months later I got my first BFP after trying soy. At almost 7 weeks pg, I started spotting which over the course of a few days turned into major bleeding and cramping, and a horrific mc. We were devastated. We waited for one full "normal" cycle to pass, and we tried again - BFP on the first try. This time I started spotting/bleeding/cramping at 6 weeks, which led to mc #2. My anxiety levels went through the roof, so DH and I decided to consult with an RE. She was great and performed every test under the sun on me, all of which came back normal. After my cycles regulated, in Feb. of this year we started doing clomid IUI's (for 3 cycles) - none of which worked. My RE suggested that we either try IUI + injects or go straight to IVF, so we decided to go straight to IVF starting in the summer. I had an HSG done in late April just to rule out any tubal problems (there were none).
DH and I took a break from treatments in May to save some money, and our sanity, for IVF beginning in June. Well guess what - 2 days before my IVF consult, we got ANOTHER BFP, and as of today I'm 32w2d pregnant with our baby boy. Miracles DO happen!!
