Do you love your kitchen? Hate it? What specifically do you or don't you like? Do you plan to change anything? Are there any appliances you don't have, but wish that you did?

The only thing I hate about our kitchen is the countertops and the stupid dishwasher. But, we really aren't making changes because we don't own the house we're living in. We are just renting since we will probably only be in Delaware for another year before we move again. That's the military for ya!

I love the size of our kitchen, but hate the layout of it. We have a side by side fridge/freezer, and it's against a wall...so you can't even open the freezer the entire way. The countertops are some weird pattern and you literally cannot see if they are clean, you have to feel. We have hardly any cabinet space(half my small pantry is given over to appliances and large cooking pots and pans).

It could be so much better if they'd just put the fridge where the pantry is and put in a wall of cabinets where the fridge is. I'd have more storage and be able to use the entire appliance.

We rent so we really can't change anything. It just adds things to the list for our dream home, lol

We rent too and have always, so I try to develop ideas for my one-day dream kitchen based on both our horrible kitchens and the slightly better ones. Currently our little kitchen does very well for the small space that we are in. Particularly, it has a fabulous built-in cupboard that goes to the ceiling with long, deep drawers and deep shelves. It holds everything: a cabinet and pantry combined. I would love to have more counter space but that would defy physics to accomplish. One day I would love to have a really good stove -- great gas stove top with super-sensitive control and a double oven (one small, one large space) that has perfectly even heat (and maybe even a proofing drawing for rising bread), all topped with the best ventilation system around. I love to cook, but I hate the smell of it everywhere afterwards.

Jen, we have the same fridge-against-the-wall problem...so annoying! I also hate the stovetop/range...it is electric and I really, really miss my gas cooktop and convection oven we had at our last house.

I love our pantry...lots of shelving and storage space. I also like how our kitchen is open to the eat-in-kitchen and family room so I can see Claire playing, watch TV, converse with DH, etc.

I don't currently have a nice mixer...just a cheapie hand mixer. I'm thinking about getting a nice Kitchen-Aid stand mixer, though...anyone have one and love/hate it?

I love having a kitchenaid mixer. But I have to say that I really don't think they make them like they used to. Mine spasmed soon after we received it (as a wedding gift) and either it was just a bad apple that made it past quality control or it is just not as good as it used to be (like my mom's that lasted forever and a day). So I don't know if I'm stuck on that brand anymore. But I do use it all the time and a repair shop was able to fix the motor. What appliance can actually be fixed these days?

Love, love, love my Kitchen Aid Mixer! My sister got it for me for Christmas last year. I throw everything in there and can do other things while it's mixing...even meatloaf!

Our kitchen is going to be gutted come March (the whole house is), so I've worked with a kitchen designer to get more storage and counterspace with a good flow! I can't wait for it to be done! DH is better with colors than I am, so he's picking out most of the finishes (cabinet wood, granite countertops, flooring). The one thing I do love is that we're getting radiant heat in the floors so the tiles will always be warm. However, the one down side is that you would not believe how much a kitchen can cost! Ours is 10'x11' and one company priced us out at over $30,000 just for cabinets (not countertops, floors..nothing else)! That was SHOCKING. The kitchen is costing us more than we originally thought it would, but it's in the center of the house & we're really opening up the house, so we want it to be FABULOUS!

We have been planning on remodeling our kitchen. Our counter tops are so old and 80ish and I would love to get granite ones. Other than that, I like our kitchen alright. Counter space is a little limited but it's ok.

I want a real kitchen. Mine is open and attached to the living room. I want a BIG ole one with TONS of counter space and an island. A big island. And every appliance known to man

I should probably keep dreaming

Melissa, you reminded me of ym hatred of our electric stove. EVERYTHING is electric here, there isn't even an option for gas in my entire town.

It sound like your kitchen layout is very similar to mine, lol. I love those same things.

I love my kitchen aid. I have the pro-series and I use it constantly. I've made everything from bread to pasta to ice cream bases to sauce to whipped cream, etc.

i'm dying to redo my kitchen but i can't justify it...it was redone & upgraded relatively recently before we bought that house...but it's not my taste, and I'd love to gut & redo the layout while i'm at it (oh but the cost, soooo expensive!) AND rip out the electric stove & replace with gas.

But on the bright side, it really is a nice, practical kitchen with a very open layout to the family room. sigh. i'll probably never convince DH we should redo it

We live in my husbands grandmothers two-family home. We rent the first floor and she lives on the second. She offered to redo the kitchen for us this last summer if my husband did the work (he is a plumbing/heating contractor) so we did It is a 100x better than what it was but I still cant wait to move into a house with more space. We squeezed as many cabinets as we could without it being overcrowded but I need more cabinets. I would LOVE more counter space as well. I also would not do a glossy floor with pets or kids....bad idea that was lol.
