because my doctor gave me a rx to help me sleep and told me that if it didn't help to call him and he will put me on something else to help me get some sleep. Ok, Now I am on day 2 with no sleep and I called the nurse at the doctor's office and she said that the doctor wants me not to take the rx and just take 2 benedryl because it should cause drowsiness. Well I take that for allergies and it is like speed for me. Well I told her and she said to take it tonight and call her back tomorrow and tell her whether it worked or not. Well, DUH if I normally take it and it doesn't work then why would it start now?? I feel like no one there is listening. I am supposed to go without sleep?? I am sorry to rant and rave but I can't help it. Thanks for listening!!

Melatonin is supposed to help your body relax enough so that it can fall asleep if you want to try something different. Reading a book usually makes me drowsy after about an hour. Sometimes I have to avoid reading if I don't want to get sleepy.

It's so frustrating to have insomnia isn't it? You just lie there and get so mad about why you can't sleep! I hope you get some sleep, I'm sorry you feel so frustrated.

Vent any time.

Chris

I have also tried reading at night to get sleepy and I even have taken Valerian Root to try to get my body relaxed. I called the nurse back like she told me to and left her a message telling her that it didn't work and if the doctor has anymore suggestions to please let me know. I am trying my best to be nice but I am getting very frustrated with them about this. They need to have insomnia and see how it feels before they try blowing us off. KWIM??

I'm sorry that you are having a tough time getting some rest. DH is an insomniac and nothing works for him. The only thing that will give him at least 4 -5 hours sleep is to do a lot of work 2 hours before he goes to sleep and then a hot shower.

Can you believe, my doctor's office still has NOT called me back!! I am seriously thinking about asking him to send me to a RE but I am so scared that I won't be able to afford it.
