I have been on clomid for 2 half years off n on. I've been ttc for over 3 years. I had an hsg n feb n had an chemical from that cycle which I had acupuncture. Since the chemical I haven't really put that much effort in ttc. I went to the er last week cuz of severe abdominal pain. They did a pelvic u/s which showed a cyst on my right ovary n enlarged uterus n my lining was 1mm. Isn't that severely low to say I was on cd13 n got a + opk the same day. My Re never monitored my medicated cycle. I had a feeling my lining was thin since my period is very light n d last few cycles been spotting for a couple of days. Is this something that's fixable that the dr can px r something i can do naturally.

Clomid can severely thin your uterine lining, which is why it is not recommended to do unmonitored cycles. Estrogen can help thicken the lining, but I'm pretty sure that is Rx only. There are other drugs that don't hurt your lining nearly as much, so it might be worth talking to your doctor about that.

I agree! I hope you find some answers soon.

Ditto, Jen...sounds like the Clomid may have really done a number on your lining. I'd ask about switching to another ovulation induction drug like Femara.

I agree with the other ladies. I also have to mention that most doctors won't do more than 6 cycles on Clomid with patients because of the very serious side effects it can have down the road.

Our TTC journey: 6 cycles Clomid, lap surgery/ D&C, IUI, 2 x IVF; 33 cycles- BFN.
IVF#1 (March 2010) Transferred two 8-cell grade A (perfect) embies- BFN and heartbroken.

IVF#2/FET#1 (Jan/Feb 2011):Transferred two (7&8 cell) grade A (PERFECT) embies- BFN again.
March 2011- February 2012: On BCP due to endometriosis.

March 2012- taking a few months off of BCP and we are TTC naturally.
We will re-evaluate another IVF w/FET try in 2013.

Thanks ladies. I talked to my RE n he well the nurse says that clomid "rarely" messes with the lining. She has probably seen it happen a couple of times from the thousands of women they see. Smh I think its time I find another dr. They did say they want to monitor me now though.

They rarely see it happen? I think it's definitely time to find a new doctor. Clomid severely thinned my lining too. We did one cycle of Follistim and my lining was back to normal and we conceived the twins.

Yeah, that's such BS. That's one of the best known issues with Clomid, right next to making women psychotic.

Wow, definitely time for a new RE. That is one of the most common side effects, along with mood swings and hot flashes.

Just popping in to say that your RE is not giving you good info. My uterine lining when from 14 mm to 11 on just 2 months of Clomid. It is definitely one of the most common side effects to the med.

CLomid for me has not messed up my lining but I also just started with it too. I would get another doctor.. you are not just another number.. everyone's cycles are never the same much less like anyone else. Good luck!

I had an ultrasound on cd 14. I had gotten a positive OPK the night before and that day as well. My left ovary had a 22mm follicle which was totally awesome, but...my lining was only a 2.5mm! I wanted to share this with you because it is happening to me too. I am on 100mg clomid and this is my 3rd cycle.
My nurse also told me that the doctor (OB) was not concerned about the lining because I take progesterone supplements after O. She also told me that clomid doesn't really affect the endometrial lining. Now that to me is just rediculous and it makes me want to SMACK my head in disbelief! WHAT?!
So now I am taking baby aspirin and doing the pineapple core thing. I hope it works and best wishes to you!
So, your lining did thicken after O then? Did you take baby aspirin too? I will be keeping you in my T&Ps!

Clomid is horrible for the lining, and you need a nice thick lining for a possible embryo to implant in. I'd ask about Femara, as it has a record for a lot less side effects and can hopefully help you out.
