So yesterday I called my RE and told them that my cycle started and the IUI was unsuccessful. Then I discussed my past pregnancies with my nurse coordinator (like I have done multiple times in the past) and asked her if she could discuss with the doctor having me do a natural cycle...no clomid, no triggers, no ultrasounds....good old fashioned OPK at home and then come in the next day for the IUI once it's positive. She clearly stated that was not the way they did things in their office and will not conduct an IUI cycle without all of the controls UNLESS we wanted to try a home intercourse cycle. I had to laugh. Do they not READ the file before they talk with the patients? I said that would be a bit difficult as my wife cannot produce sperm LOL. Anyhow, after an extremely uncomfortable conversation I politely as possible asked her to tell the RE I would be leaving the practice and searching for a physician that is willing to work with the patient's concerns. The end.
So................today I started Googling fertility practices in my area and found one other (thank the lord!). So I just emailed them a bit about myself and we'll see what they say when they get back to me. Here is what I emailed to their physician team...does it sound okay?

Good Morning Physicians,
I was wondering if Northern California Fertility Medical Center physicians are willing to perform an IUI after a home OPK is positive. From what I read on the website, it appears that it may be a possibility.
Here is a little of my background. My wife and I have two lovely boys, 3 ½ and 1 ½ years of age. I carried both boys using donor sperm with what I call a “natural” IUI cycle. I was impregnated both times at UC Davis Fertility Center, which as you know, no longer exists. We are wanting a third child and I recently went through a cycle at a local IVF competitor. Well, they would not let me OPK test at home and insisted on conducting multiple ultrasounds, administering clomid and an hcg trigger w/ boosters after. I only tried one cycle with them, and it did not work. I called and asked if I could do a cycle similar to how I got pregnant with my boys and they said no, that was not how they did things. So……………..I am searching for a practice willing to consider my path to past positive pregnancies. With my first son, I got a positive OPK then called the doctor and came in 24 hours later and had the IUI. Pregnant first time. With my second son, I did the same thing and the second IUI worked. I would like to try that again. And on top of everything, I have gone through the fertility screening process three times (ie blood work, hsg, etc.) to prove I’m fertile and healthy.
Anyhow, if your practice is willing to perform an IUI with donor sperm when a home OPK is positive, please let me know so I can schedule a consultation. I really do not want to use any fertility drugs or artificial triggers as I do not see that there is a need in my case. We are eager to grow our family and would appreciate finding a great physician!
Thank you for your time and consideration of our situation.
I think that sounds like a really good email, and hopefully they will respond and be willing. Good for you for fighting for a doctor that will listen to the patient, and not just do what gets them the most money

The email sounds great to me! I hope that they contact you back with good news! Your last clinic sounds like a nightmare! Their clinic may not operate *that* way, but your situation is not standard! Too bad that you wasted your money and time working with them. Your previous history shows that natural cycles have worked for you...not sure why they wouldnt try.

Sounds like we had the similar experience, and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the same place. I originally was told that it was possible to do a natural cycle and after the first IUI was unsuccessful I was told they would not do another natural cycle. They had the same discussion about home intercourse...again having not read the file, which is not possible considering my partner too doesn't have sperm. I am not sure if I will continue with them after this.
