Random title I know, but we're starting to plan our big move out west this year. A good portion of our drive will be along I-10W from Florida, and what we don't drive during our move we will be taking during our winter break to head to California pretty much. I'd love to hear suggestions of things to do, places to stay, places to eat, etc. along that area. I know we have several texas girls and several military girls that have lived in all sorts of fun places and i'm hoping someone can give me ideas!

I've taken the drive from Stewart out west to San Antonio, but unfortunately I was by myself and I was just in a hurry to get to where I was going so I could stop driving finally! I did stop for the night in Biloxi, MS and there was lots of stuff near my hotel that looked really cool that I wish I had more time to explore, so might want to look into the Biloxi/Gulfport area.

Also, a friend and her husband stayed on I10 down into New Orleans (instead of taking the I12 shortcut) and stayed a day or two exploring New Orleans and I know they really enjoyed it. So that's another thought.

Hope you can plan some cool things and your drive is safe!

We live off of I-10. We are in SETexas.. about 30 minutes from Louisiana.

The only place we go is Houston, and they really don't have anything TOO exciting. The Galleria (humongous mall), and I like going there because of the Cheesecake Factory.

We are definitely overnighting in new Orleans. I've wanted to go there for years so it was a no brainer, lol, and the shortcut on i-12 is not that much shorter.

Aimee, are you guys near SA?

Londyn, we'd kill to go to denver. seriously. we were so angry that those orders became available the DAY after our orders were assigned to us. Dh's job allows him to go almost anywhere in the world, which we've definitely had the advantage of(this is the first time he has gone stateside to stateside since he graduated from basic/IET and went to his first duty station).

Kelli, sounds like I'll be driving through your town, lol. We figure we'll go through Houston as well, but I'm not a city person, I'm much more outdoorsy, so who knows what we will decide to do, lol.

Dang! Is he security forces? DH is Space Systems and his particular system can only be here, BUT his tech school was at Vandenberg AFB so he can do instructing here or there

MY BIL is SF and has only been stationed state side and he just got to his third duty assignment this past spring in Alaska!

No, he's in the communications field so every single base in the world is an option for him.

Since he started, it's been basic, IET, stateside, overseas, stateside, overseas, overseas, overseas, stateside, and now stateside...this is probably our twilight tour, scarily enough.
