Anyone here had a laparoscopy? I'm scheduled for one this friday and I'm just looking for any suggestions/stories to help me calm my nerves. What kind of discomfort was there afterwards.. And what type of pain medications weee u sent home with? Any replies are appreciated!

I had one last March.

It wasn't too too bad for me. For the first day I had to have DH help me get up and down a lot. I was really shakey afterwards and I wanted to eat but things tasted so bad from being put under. Lots of flavored drinks helped like powerades and milkshakes. The worst pain I felt besides someone hitting me or bumping into my incisions was the gas pain afterwards. It moves up into the shoulders and pretty much just sits. A heating pad is a MUST for this and you will probably need help shifting positons. It hurts to lay in one spot for too long. I had mine on Thursday morning, came home in the afternoon. By Friday I was able to pretty much get myself up and moving around but very slowly. Sat was better but I still moved slow. Sunday was even better and the only trouble I really had was getting comfortable at night and bending over and getting up if I was sitting low to the ground. I just felt like after the inital pain I moved really slow for a few days. Within a week I felt pretty much back to normal.

I've had two. The first one my recovery was rough because I also had appendicitis and they did a lot more 'work' in there. The second one was routine and only had endo to clean out, I was in bed for a day, on the sofa for two days, then felt pretty normal other than minor pain at the incision sites and being weak.

Same as Jen, needed a few days being pretty lazy, being in bed or on the couch. Definitely wasn't grocery shopping but could within a few days. I think I had mine on a Thurs so I also had Fri and the weekend off... I need to go find my thread!

I had one I don't really remember there being any pain besides around the incision. I went back to work the next day. Which was a bad idea cuz my stitches popped.

Hey everyone! My surgery went pretty well. Turned out to have a decent amount of endo. Espcially on the left side. RE told my hubby that my left tube and ovary were coated in a huge pocket of endo. I'm pretty sore today but I'm looking forward to my post op appt now that's all removed hopefully we have good news soon!!
