Hey ladies,

Omg!! There have been such exciting post lately... congratulations and good luck. I was doing some thinking (I'm really good at that lately). I have recently come up with a little idea that mainly works like I need to shrink my fluffiness so that everything can work better in my body. I was wondering has anyone taken anything to help lose weight while on ttc medications? Is it safe?

Thanks ladies y'all are awesome!!

Karen

I have never taken anything but good old exercise and eating healthy always works for me. Bad thing for me is that I stress eat so when I am TTC I eat too much, make poor choices and don't exercise!

Same here... I just exercise and eat better. I never have taken anything. That's a good question for your pharmacist. They could tell you the safest thing to do.

I used to take adipex. They said it was fine while ttc but as soon as I hot a bfp I needed to immediately stop... which to me is just weird. I don't want to mess it up. They don't teach anyone about this road in sex ed or college or anything :/

Any kind of medications need to be cleared with your RE during TTC medicated cycles. Even things like ibuprofen, nyquil, etc. can cause your meds to react differently. I'd be hesitant to take anything for weight loss just because that usually is not the best for the body

Ya I try to take as little as possible JIC.
What about just adding a daily walk in?

If you really want to lose weight while TTC, I suggest seeing a nutritionist- they can give you diet recommendations based on what you will need during early pregnancy so that it's not a shock to your system, plus make sure you are getting the calorie balance that you need. My RE in georgia recommended that all patients walk 30 minutes per day, and do something like pilates or yoga as well, as those are exercises that translate well to pregnancy. We just had to take it easy while stimming and right after trigger.

Clean Eating/Whole 30/Paleo is also highly recommended for people dealing with infertility. The idea is that if we clean the toxins and artificial sweeteners, flavorings, etc. out of the body that it lets our bodies work better as well.

I'm going to second Jen's nutritionist reccomendation! I saw one while we were TTC the first time, and she was amazing! I lost 40lbs Of course, I've gained it all back and need to see her again, but my insurance no longer covers it. I really need to lose weight again though.

Would anyone in here like to be weight-loss buddies? I think that it might help to motivate me some more.

Me: Autoimmune (Hashimotos and Fibromyalgia), vitamin D and calcium deficiency. Treated with Synthroid, supplements, TCM and acupuncture.

DH: Severe MFI (low counts, low motility, poor morphology and high antibodies), likely caused by poor liver function. Treated with Clomid to increase total counts.

DD: Conceived after 1 year of TTC with progesterone to correct LPD (likely caused by undiagnosed thyroid dysfunction). Born Aug 2009 via c/s after an induction due to pre-e and HELLP.

TTC #2 since Oct10 with an early loss in Aug 2011. Post-wash counts are too low for IUI to be successful, so moving on to IVF/ICSI in May 2014!

IVF/ICSI #1 (May 2014): Estrogen priming and antagonist protocol, including acupuncture and prayer!

Hey girls!! I'm on Myfitnesspal...if any of you want to join me...pm me and I'll give you my name so you can add me as a friend. I've lost 15lbs so far!! Just making better choices, tracking my calories and planning meals has got me this far....don't judge my diet pepsi today! (you can make your food diary public or private).

I'd nix all those over the counter weight loss stuff. I've always lost weight by exercising and calorie counting (it gets easy once you do it.)

Sorry I'm not much help. I've never felt like I was in control of my body. With lifestyle changes like eating healthier and exercising regularly I might sustain or gain weight, and then lose when I'm eating ice cream for dinner and sitting on the couch. I've never tried any weight loss drugs or anything though.
