We had our urologist appointment today, and it went okay. We weren't told to start taking any vitamins or supplements or do anything to improve things which made me kinda upset. I really want to get this show on the road! He has another appointment for the 15th and he's supposed to get another SA done that day. He's supposed to bring it in right before the appointment and the doctor is going to look at the sample before coming to see us. He is also supposed to get blood work done in between now and then. LH, FSH, Testosterone, Estrogen, and something else I can't remember. I didn't even know men had LH and FSH. There was an infertility questionnaire he was supposed to fill out and bring to his next appointment but he just filled it in before we left. There were like 100 questions or something. He was given a physical exam and that went fine, the doctor didn't notice any abnormalities down there. He blood pressure was a bit high though. So I guess we will have to wait and see what happens at the next appointment.

The doctor said that while he sees all the MFI cases in town, he's not an infertility specialist. So while he can help most people depending on the problem we may have to go out of town to see an actual specialist. I hope whatever the problem is he can help us because I don't want to do that.

Jeez. This guy does not sound super helpful! I would be annoyed.

It's good you have some other tests and stuff scheduled. I hope it moves fast!! And I really hope you don't have to see that specialist!!

Yeah I am kind of annoyed. I don't know why we couldn't have filled out the questionnaire before *this* appointment, or why we couldn't get the second SA done before *this* appointment. He says when he sees a bad SA he always orders a second one so they could have just told us to bring a sample to this appointment when we called to schedule it.

Also I forgot to mention that my aunt works at this office as a surgery scheduler which kind of weirds me out a little.

hmmmm.... That is annoying.
We were never told anything by our urologist either and in hindsight we should have gone elsewhere. I just started researching and put DH on the supplements and such. Drives me crazy because its not a quick fix with sperm so wasting time is frustrating!

I'm sorry that appt was so frustrating (and apparently a waste of time too!) UGH...I hope that you don't have to go out of town either. I hope his blood tests might show something that can be easily fixed. ((HUGS))...I just found that out myself (FSH, LH in men) when I was googling FSH (for me).

Yea, like you said, it would have been nice to already have the questionnaire filled out and the SA to bring to the appt! I hope you get things figured out soon!

I kinda want to get him started on some stuff now but I'm scared I'm just going to make things worse.

Thank you so much for all the support. It really helps having someplace like this where people understand!

No you won't make it worse! Just try things that anyone can have y/k? Adding Vit C won't hurt! And so many of the others won't either! And at least you will be *doing* something y/k?

Same thing happened when my DH went to Urologist after being told he needed to go because his morphology was bad. Urologist wasn't helpful at all. Did quick exam and said he had a minor varicosille (sp?) but it was so minor and if it didn't bother him the urologist didn't even recommend fixing it. Never once mentioned vitamins or had any suggestions to improving his fertility at all. I was annoyed too and didn't understand why RE even sent us there. I completely understand where you are coming from.

Definitely get him on Fertility Blend for Men from GNC. My DH went from 2% strict morphology to 7% in 6 months. Count and motility where improved too.

Wow that's great! I will try to get him to start some stuff. He's not too convinced on herbal stuff in general (I on the other hand am willing to try almost anything lol) so it might be a bit of a struggle. I feel like if a doctor told him he should take vitamin C, L-carnitine, etc. he'd be more likely to actually do it. I'm sure if I try to get him to buy $40's worth of supplements now he's just going to say "shouldn't we wait two weeks and see what the doctor says?". I'd hate to just buy vitamin c or something individually and then decide he should get the blend instead before he gets a chance to use much of it.

Maybe I'll just get him to start taking my prenatals everyday for the time being. It has a lot of the same things as the fertility blend in it, just in much smaller doses. It doesn't have L-catnitine, Selenium, Dong quai, or CoQ10 though.
