So I thought I would share with a friend that we have an appt on Friday with the Fertility Specialist. She knows that we have been struggling to get pregnant and how badly we want to have a baby. (She suffered a pregnancy loss late in her pregnancy around 28 or 30wks last year. And now she is pregnant again and due in August.) She pretty much said that is nice, hope it appt goes well, and that everything will happen in God's timing. Ugh!!! I am so tired of hearing that!!!! I understand and believe that everything happens for a reason and season. I do believe that everything is in God's timing but I see no harm in getting some help. Obviously cancer and treatment for it have really affected our chances of having any more children. So I just needed to rant because I thought for sure she would be excited and supportive. Instead now I feel upset, frustrated, irritated, and that we are bad people for getting help from the Fertility Specialist.

I am so sorry that your friend upset you I don't like it when people tell me that it is God's timing, etc. That is not what I want to hear, I just want my family/friends to support me not give me empty platitudes

I really hope that you and your DH are able to conceive another child together. I know that you don't know me as well as many of the others here but you are welcome to pm me any time you need a shoulder to cry/vent on!!

You and I have been ttc for about the same length of time and I know how frustrating/disappointing it is every cycle to get that BFN.

Sigh, I can't believe any of us are somehow meant to suffer infertility (or losses) so I opt instead to believe that agents of help are instead put in our path...don't ever feel bad for doing everything you possibly can to achieve your dream. (((Hugs)))

I honestly believe that everything is on God's time and when he see fit it will happen even if it is by medical intervention. No matter how it happens it happen according to his plan. I believe he puts us through these times so we can appreciate the miracle so much more. Not saying we wouldn't appreciate it if it happen so easily but I know from my experience being in the position I'm in now I appreciate everything I'm blessed with and if I'm blessed to carry another child I will not take that for granted like I did my other pregnancies. Sorry if I'm ranting but this is what gets me through all these years I been ttc. I pray u get your baby and good luck at your appt!

Coming from an atheist. This is one of the most upsetting things people said to me. God's time indeed. And if you do believe in god, how on earth do you know that god's plan isn't to go get help from your doctor?? People say stupid things, even when they're trying to help. I'm sorry hun. Big hugs.

I do believe that things happen for a reason and that God does have a hand in all of it...HOWEVER no body knows nor do they have any right to tell anyone else what that plan is or that it "is" or "isn't" in his plan for anyone to have children at any given time.

I've never had someone specifically say TO me anything regarding God's plan - but I've gotten every other comment out there. The first person to tell me it's not in God's plan for me to have children will.get.punched. period. lol

I know that's not exactly what was said to you - but I've heard people say that TO infertiles before. I heard it on the radio last week and wanted to punch the woman so hard (she also said IVF is "selfish" and we should all "just adopt") seriously three of the worst things all in one sentence! lol. If I ever have that said to me...yeah...hold me back!

You absolutely will have a baby someday - hopefully soon.

And - honestly - I truly 100000% believe God gave the skills and knowledge TO the fertility docs to be ABLE to DO IVF. ya know?

I think people throw that phrase around when they have no clue of what else to say. It's SO overused in my world too. She hasn't gone through what you have went through, so can't understand where you are coming from. Try not to let it bug you too much. ((HUGS))

I've had a good friend say all the usual platitudes: "It will happen in God's time" Just relax" "Stop trying so hard"

I put it down to the fact that she does not know the pain of infertility, so therefore she has NO clue about what to say.

That being said, I'm a FIRM believer in the fact that God does have a plan for everything. I know that when I am finally holding my baby in my arms, those long months of heartache and frustrations will be forgotten.

As Kerri Ann said, the skills and knowledge mordern doctors have to perfom IVF is God-given skill and knowledge.

Hopefully your friend will try to be more empathetic in future!
