Wow!!! I don't even know what to start. I can start by saying that I have been a nervous wreck these last 24 hrs. I could hardly sleep last night and could hardly eat anything this morning. Just so nervous/anxious about our appt with the fertility doctor. I am fully impressed with our doctor. He was very open and honest with us about everything. He said that DH has a good concentration of sperm but our problem lies in the fact that there aren't a lot of ones moving forward and they are misshaped. He also mentioned that because those sperm are misshaped that our odds of birth defects goes up from 3% to 6% due to their shape. Doctor feels that this could be a direct result or effect from the chemo. So he laid out both options to us, IUI and IVF. But before we choose a route to go, he ordered a full work up on me. I had blood work done, initial ultrasound, and have my hsg scheduled for Wednesday. Then we will meet up with him again on April 5th. He couldn't emphasize enough how pleased/excited he was that our oncologist insisted on banking sperm before DH started chemo. He said that if we did have to go with IVF (he hopes we don't b/c it is so expensive and emotionally draining, our Dr.&his wife had to go that route) that we would use the sample that is frozen/banked instead of fresh sperm. But if we go with IUI we would use fresh sperm because 1 vial (we have 2 frozen) isn't enough for IUI and no guarantee it will work. He told us that our odds of getting pregnant with IUI is like 10% with the way his sperm are currently and with IVF it is like 50%. The ultrasound tech was already at lunch so the doctor did the ultrasound himself. My right ovary looks great, there were like 15 follicles and the left ovary had about 20 follicles but looks like it might have been damaged with c-section. It isn't in the position that it should be in, it looks like it adhered to my uterus some. But he said just because it is in that position doesn't mean that I have any problem with my tube but we will know more after the hsg. I am just so shocked, overwhelmed, and excited at the same time. I told my mom on the phone and I think she was a little irritated I did give her the heads up about this earlier but I didn't want to say anything until we talked to the doctor. While we were in the waiting room, a lady came up and said that she sees good things happening for us and that we will be blessed. I selfishly wish that DH hadn't had to go back to work and we could have talked about things more while it is still fresh in our minds. Any way, I have gone on long enough I have had time for it to sink in more and I knew I needed to update ya'll I guess I am mostly just shocked and giddy thinking before this year is over, we could be pregnant.

DH and I kept talking after the appt that this is almost how things went when we found out he had cancer. That things that normally don't happen together or happen that quickly have happened. (Back in 2011, he was diagnosed on a Thursday afternoon&Friday morning he had his surgery to have his testicle removed. Went for follow up appt on Tuesday after surgery, to find out it was cancer and had to see oncologist. Just happened our urologist knows an oncologist and that oncologist was in the same building and was able to take us right away like a walk in appt.) So for AF to come, specialist was able to see us this week, and then have all my work up done today minus the hsg is just amazing. I can't wait for April 5th to get here already!!!

Now Lucy we just need to find you a great doctor like mine, I would share him with you if you lived closer If you could see me, you would see that I haven't been able to wipe a smile off my face at all since we talked to the doctor. I would like to think that things will happen quickly but even if they don't, I know that it will happen some time. I am just so happy to hear that we have a chance and our odds aren't zero. As my friend told me on Friday/Saturday (she also saw a doctor in the same practice and just had her baby about 3 wks ago) to find a good book to focus some of my extra energy on. So I am taking that advice and staying busy with things for church like stuffing eggs with candy for kids and have an egg hunt for them on Wednesday night. I work Thursday and Friday night of this week coming up. Have a huge egg hunt at church on Saturday and I am volunteering to work in the nursery on Easter Sunday. Then next Monday (April 1st) I have my Fire/EMS wives support group/ladies bible study. I know that everything is going to be fine and go great, just a little nervous about the hsg. But I think that is because it is just fear of the unknown, ya know? I was anxious about the doctor's appt before it happened on Friday and that went so well, so I have no doubts about this at all. Feeling great and confident that everything will go smoothly
