Ok so last cycle I had to do the PIO shots and yes they hurt - yes it sucked - yes I hated them but NOTHING like this time. This time is so much worse than last time. Sweet baby Jeebus in a pita pocket I have never felt such pain. I started them on Friday night and my husband administered my shot. When I woke up on Saturday morning I had a knot so big on my bum - NOTHING like the quarter size knots I got the first time - This sucker is HUGE - it is as big as my hand from my wrist to the tip of my finger - palm and all - it is huge and hurts so bad I can barely walk, sit or lay on it. I called and spoke with the nurse and she said it is perfectly normal and sometimes that happens. What is normal about your back side looking like it's growing a chin off the top?

Whew - Ok Rant over - sorry just had to get that out - I know it's all worth it in the end but frickety frack this hurts.

Oh no - panic mode for me!!!

I hope your bum feels better. So did the shot itself hurt or just the day after?

Oopsie Sorry didn't mean to scare you. The shot itself did not hurt any more than normal. But I think we might of done something wrong - maybe a wrong angle or not a good spot not sure.

oh sweetie! This is what I did and I never had a knot.

Get your shot ready...set it aside...

Take a big ziplock bag - then wet a washcloth and wring it out. Microwave the damp washcloth in the ziplock (don't zip it) for about 30 seconds until it's VERY warm (don't burn yourself!). lay the baggie on a towel, then place the syringe onto the washcloth and flop it over the syringe. Let it sit there 15-20 seconds to warm up the progesterone. It makes it easier to plunger, and I think it absorbs in the body better.

Then I'd do the shot, wrap the baggie in the towel and stuck it down my pants while I got ready for work in the morning, so it helped warm and distribute the oil.

I know some people ice the area, but I think that makes it gel up more IMO.

Hope that helps!!! ((HUGS))....

Also, just saw you say you might have done it wrong. Did you pull back the plunger to make sure there was no blood before he injected?

I am just afraid of the shot itself- not afterwards.

I hope your next one goes better. Are you doing them once a day?

I agree with the warming. But a welt that big? I'd keep an eye on it.

Thanks for all the advice - I'm going to do the wash rag in a bag trick from now on - you told me about it during my last cycle and I did it and never had any problems. Not sure why I thought I could get away with not doing it this time. No I did not pull back and check from blood because no one ever told me to do that. I was just told they were the same as my other shots except they were intramuscular that was it. I watched some youtube videos this weekend just to see if maybe there was something I was missing and THAT is where I learned that I should be pulling it back to check for blood. So My Saturday and Sunday shot I did have my DH pull it back and check. But during my first FET cycle I never did that either - hmmmmm maybe that it why it didn't work :/ I do remember bleeding a lot after several of the shots.

Again - Sorry didn't mean to scare you The shot itself is really not that bad. I am doing them once a day. This lump came from my Friday shot. I had to do both my Saturday and Sunday shot on the same side because my Friday shot side hurts so bad. The side I did my Sat and Sun shot on it fine and just barely sore. Do the wash rag/ziplock in the microwave trick - Don't know why I skipped it this time.

Yeah I still feel like it can't be normal - I mean this thing is huge - It's been 3 days and I can barely touch that whole side of my bottom. I now have a red raised rash and inflammation so I called the nurse again and she asked me to come by. Gonna stop by after work just to be safe.

I am sorry you got a welt from your shot I think getting it checked out is a great idea!!! Hoping that this is just a localized inflammation reaction. Keep us updated please.

Stopped by to see the nurse and she drew in permanent marker where I should be doing my injections.......I told her I felt the area she circled was my kidneys and that I'd I put the needle in there I would poke a kidney...lol......she said no sweetie where you have been doing your injections is where your kidneys are......oopsie! So the welt is just bad inflammation and to sleep on a heating pad at night. If it doesn't go away in a couple days she wants me to come back.

Oh no!
SO Sorry you're experiencing this. I've heard these shots are the devil!

I hope the welt goes away, and you heal soon.

Glad you got good advice from the nurse on where exactly to do them.

Hugs!
