So most of you probably don't remember specifically - but after our failed fresh cycle we had 4 embies frozen.

We've been planning on doing an FET - which we did this month and...

BIG FAT EFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFING NEGATIVE.

seriously. I don't know if I can handle another one. We now have 2 left.

We have our W T -F appointment tomorrow and I'm desperate. I'm going to ask him to test me for anything and everything under the sun.

I will NOT use our two remaining embies until I have been tested for EVERYTHING.

So here's my question - what should I ask him to test for?

I've had the hsg test done - 2 years ago - and it "showed" 1 blocked tube, which my doc doesn't believe as he said those are notorious for 'spasming' and being wrong...

I've had the Day 3 testing and my E2, FSH were perfectly fine.

I had an RPL done after the failed fresh which tested for:
Lupus Anticoagulant
Antiphospolipid Outlay Serum
Factor IV Leiden
Factor II Gene
MTHFR

And ALL of those came back "fine/no issues"...

I'm going to go ahead and ask for a laproscopy and I don't know what else...

I'm so sorry (((HUGS)))

I think the lap is a great idea. Did they check your thyroid when they did your Day 3 testing? Any testing on your glucose/blood sugar/insulin/etc.? How was your lining for the FET?

my lining was "fine" it was at a 9mm if I remember. I HAVE been diagnosed with Insulin Resistance, YEARS ago (2007) and was off/on metformin for years (and have been completely off it for months - like 6+)

They did a GTT after the fresh and the doc said my insulin levels were "slightly raised" but were not that bad and it was my decision to stay on or go off the metformin...so I went off of it. that's something else I'll ask him about again...

Obviously my husband and I are very sad - but I think we're both also pretty pissed - not necessarily at our doc...just the whole situation. You know? I just don't feel like they've done enough testing on me. At all.

Oh Kerri-Ann! I'm so sorry!
I didn't even know you had done your FET!

I would certainly look at getting a sperm DNA fragmentation test as it can play a role in implantation. If course this would only be useful for a new fresh cycle.

Hoping that you find absolution and that your next FET is successful.

Hugs.

I'm so sorry Keri-Ann. I was so hoping this was going to work for you!

I'm having lap done in May and I'll let you know how it goes. I don't want to move ahead until I know what else can be done, either.

Of course, like last time, take all the time you need to grieve your loss. If my RE recommends any other testing, I'll let you know.

Oh NO!! I am so sorry. I wish I knew what to say to make you feel better.

I have not had the Laparoscopy done either and told myself if our fresh IVF doesn't work I will be getting that as well. So maybe that will reveal something in there that they just don’t' see on u/s?

I am not sure what else they could test you for. Again, - I am so sorry.

You ladies are awesome.

And I'm almost positive we've had the sperm DNA fragmantation done...I asked my husband and he said that sounds familiar (so since he doesn't pay attention to a lot of this stuff, I'm taking that as a "yes I've had that done" lol).

sigh. it just sucks. SO beyond. ya know? Course as sad as we both are, my husband is starting to feel better that it's not just him - which I can't say I blame him...I know this whole thing has sucked for him, knowing he's been the "issue"...

But yeah...I'm gonig to BEG my doc for every single test under the sun. we will NOT transfer again until I've been tested for everything.

(((HUGS))) i'm so sorry...the one RPL test you didn't mention (and a lot of doctors don't routinely do it) is a full karyotyping on you & your husband. it's SUPER expensive if your insurance doesn't cover (like $1200+/each) but honestly given what you're investing in IVF, that might not seem like too much....the downside of karyotyping is it's looking for chromosomal issues (I think primarily mosaicism), but it doesn't provide much for addressing where you do uncover a problem. I know that if a problem comes back they immediately recommend moving to IVF (you're already there) but i'm not sure what solutions it offers except perhaps that doing the genetic testing on the embryos before transferring is then recommended?

I don't blame you for wanting to do as many tests as you can before you transfer your last 2, I would be demanding the same thing...

Good idea Lara!
Can you still do the PGD testing on your frosties? It might be to late but that is a good question to ask.

I was going to suggest the karotyping, same as Lara. I hate this for you. I was really hoping this one would be it.

Laps are pretty easy to recover from and such a good diagnostic tool, so hopefully your RE will be on board.

((HUGS))...I was going to suggest the karotyping as well. A friend I know from a msg board I met in 2006 finally did that after 2 failed IVF's and she had a chromosomal defect.

They did PGD the next round of IVF and while her fresh cycle didn't work, she is now 18w pregnant with twins from her FET. She had a lap done right before her FET, and I think it may have helped. She was mad they hadn't done one earlier.

I agree, get all the testing you can get done before you use the last 2.

Also, I'd not worry so much about the HSG, because if your uterus looked normal shaped (no septum, etc) then I'd not worry about looking for abnormalities in your tubes, because IVF and FET bypass all that.

Also, did your Dr.s office do a mock transfer before your IVF? Some places do them and some do not. I think it's important to do this step, so that they correctly measure where to place the embryo and make sure it's in the correct spot on the lining. You may have already done this, but wanted to mention it.

I'm so sorry this failed. I know exactly how you feel and wouldn't wish that hurt on anyone. I'll tell you what my RE told me after my second failed FET: "The odds are about 50-50. That means half the time it works and the other half it doesn't. Even with a perfect cycle, there's no guarantee you will get pregnant. You could have another IVF next month and get pregnant with twins." This was somewhat reassuring to me because I felt like I just wasn't lucky that time around.

I agree with you to have all the tests run and do the lap too. I've had two laps and they're no big deal at all. After all the tests have been run and you get good results, you just may have to play the numbers game and keep trying. I hate to give that advice because I know it stinks to hear it, but for me, it was a bit reassuring that if I just keep trying, it WILL work.

Good luck honey!!!

Don't feel bad...I didn't post to the boards that I was doing it...I had messaged Jenn about it - but that was all - I was going all "ninja-stealth" and really didn't tell that many people this time around...

Thank you to everyone on here though! You all are so awesome!

I'm getting a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy done next week to check for endo...which again, I HOPE I don't have - but shoot - part of me hopes I DO as it'll at least be an answer as to WHY I can't get pregnant!
