I am wondering what is the perfect timing of a successful IUI. We will be going through our 4th iui this month. The first IUI 1mil swimmers and egg was about to drop, 2nd 6mil swimmers the egg dropped earlier, 3rd 4mil swimmers dr. went further with iui and egg did not drop yet had 18 follicles at the time. The dr. states 20 follicles is ideal. All 3 IUIs was with trigger shot, I was on clomid the 4th my wife will be on clomid. Is there a certain success rate depending on number of follicles? Timing of iui should it be before egg drops? I feel like our timing is always off. Thanks

Did you do the IUI 24-36 hours after the trigger shots?

Also, my RE wont do an IUI unless there is atleast 20 mill spermies pre-wash. Was that the count of yours post wash?

Are they any other known issues with Sperm?

20 follies with clomid?

wait, 20 follicles is ideal?? Do you mean 20 mature follicles or that the folllicles are measuring around 20mm?

As for ideal timing, the best is to have the sperm waiting right before ovulation, so IUI done about 2 hrs before O. Are they doing monitoring? trigger shots?

yes 20mm trigger shot done 24 hrs before iui.
My wife is fine I only have low count that they tell me is the factor and yes those numbers are post wash. I have been taking, trying anything to help improve the chances. I think this round with my wife taking clomid and the trigger shot should help us. I also think I am going to release my swimmers daily from what I read so that they bad ones come out and fresh healthy ones can move in. at least up until the next iui 3 days before its scheduled I will release.

Start taking Fertility Blend from GNC. My DH count, motility and morphology all improved. His count went too 400 million with only a 48 wait in between release. It will take a good 3 months though for new spermies to develop.

Timing seems okay to me on the IUI. Mine have always been 24 and 48 hours after trigger. So that means getting two IUI in row in one cycle.

Also the size of the follies are correct - you want them to be 20mm or over.

Has your wife's AMH and FSH levels been checked? Are they within range?

I definitely agree with what Gretchen posted about the vitamins from GNC. My DH is taking them as well and we hoping that it will help him since he has motility and morphology issues.

Most successful IUIs are timed 36 hours after trigger. But anywhere from 24-48 can be ideal.
