Sunday night, I was getting ready for bed and I noticed I could see the veins in my arm, not bulging just dark. It started to hurt when I took my shirt off. DH wanted us to go in and I compromised with calling the nurse line. I was told basically "your fine go to bed."

FF yesterday morning, veins more visible, blotchy skin and more pain. Called my family practice doc and explained the situation. They assumed it was serious and brought me right in. After spending two hours in the office I was rushed to the cardiac center in St Paul, where I had an ultrasound done of my arm.

Apparently, all the symptoms were caused from a blood clot. Luckily the little sucker decided to make home in one of the small veins and not the main vein or artery.

One of the side effects of clomid is blood clots. Very scary, you never think the serious ones will happen to you.

I will be undergoing some coagulant testing within the next week to see if this some how goes hand in hand with my fertility issues.

Just wanted to share so you clomid ladies can keep an eye on yourselves!

Yikes!!! I'm sorry!
I'm glad to hear it wasn't a major vein or artery, but still scary!! Are they going to do anything with it?

Once we find out if I am pregnant or not I will start blood thinners. But as of now just heat packs.

omg i'm glad you're ok...I was scared while i was on all of the fertility meds (clomid, femara & prog particularly) because they all come with big warnings about clots and I already have a gene mutation that predisposes me to them. That's really scary that you had one and i'm glad you trusted your gut and had it checked out...hopefully your bloodwork comes back ok and it's just clomid induced but if not, being on bloodthinners would definitely be helpful to you during pregnancy.

Very scary! I have a clotting disorder as does my daughter. The first time I saw the veins turn dark blue on my arm I knew something wasn't right. Superficial thrombosis can be every bit as dangerous as deep vein thrombosis.

Glad you're ok!

I'm surprised they didn't run a beta to decide on whether or not to start you on meds at this point. FX you get your sticky BFP this week!
