If all goes how we hope it will, hubby will get out of the army and we'll be on our way to Texas by the end of this year. Most importantly that means he won't go back to Afghanistan (thank God). One of the happy bags of news that comes with him getting out, and taking this job he's been offered, is that we can do IVF. So next year will be the make or break year.

So far the only clinics near the town we'll be moving close to - are at least three hours. I recall how much of a pain in the rear it was for an hour back and forth to the RE in Nashville, so I'm not thrilled by this. I can suck it up though trust me (and whine a bit about it) if it's worth it.

So how far do you drive?? What's reasonable?? And how do I find out the success rates of a clinic?

sorry you have to drive so far. we are lucky that our doc is literally not 5 miles from our house - but indianapolis has like 4 or 5 fertility clinics...and we live right in town. but in saying that - I have a friend (here in Indy) who went to New York for hers...

good luck!

We've contemplated traveling for almost any doc we'll see at this point. Dallas is NOT FSH friendly

The RE clinic we had made our apt with is in Syracuse, which is about 1.5 hours from us. He is really good, and worth the drive. We are holding off right now on heading back, but if we get to IUI's or IVF we will be going there.

There are several within an hour or so from us, I think things are more scrunched together up here.

Good luck, I really hope all of those great things happen and he will be out soon!!

We drove 75 miles each way for our IUIs and fresh IVF. Then we moved but kept the same RE, so I had to fly 1300 miles each way for our FET. Totally worth it.

Honestly the most important thing is finding an RE with good stats that you trust...wherever that is, you have to find a way to get there.

Right now if we were to do IVF, I'd be traveling 14 hrs by car. I'd have to go for a few weeks. The reason I say that is we'd go to our home state to do it, because at least then we'd have a place to stay, etc. and always be able to stay with someone for FET's.

I would drive further if the stats were that much better... So for now (if it happens) an hour. But now I am thinking maybe I do need to look into SF even if it's 2 hr without traffic. I dunno.
Good luck darling. I hope you get a BFP before you even need to work out any details on this

I drive 3 hrs round trip. I could have gotten monitored locally and only gone there for the big procedures, but my ins covers nothing so I picked a program that covers monitoring. I honestly picked my clinic because it was closest. Dumb I know. But it does have pretty good stats.

Good luck if you need to go that route.

I am lucky to live 10 miles from 2 different clinics. I also live about 30 miles from Cleveland Clinic. There is a clinic in Dayton, OH that is 2.5 hours from us that has the best results in Ohio. I just couldn't travel that far with work and a 14 year old.

Thanks girls. We're thinking somewhere in Dallas or Odessa will probably be where we'll go.

I really appreciate the replies.
