I can't remember what the timing is after Clomid for an IUI. Like at all. I know it's a range, but approximagely how long after you finish teh Clomid are most people ready to trigger? A week? Two weeks?

Also- when we TTC our DS, I had to be on 150mg of Clomid. It gives me killer awful headaches. Obviously it's all worth it in the end, but I just don't know if I can do that again. Especially now with my much heavier workload and an active toddler running around. SIGH.

I know Femera is a drug that a lot of women use with success and it tends to have less side effects. I want to bring this up as an option when we go for our "what now consult" in a couple of weeks. However, I want to know a couple of things.

If I take Femera, does that mean I can't take Clomid ever again? I know a lot of women use it if Clomid doesn't work- but since it did work for me once, I don't want to eliminate it as an option just becuase I don't want a few headaches.

Is there any greater chance of multiples with Femera than Clomid? I don't think there are, but thought I'd check...

Any insight you ladies have would be appreciated!

I ovulate about 9 days after my last clomid. I think that's pretty late though, even when on clomid.
I'm not sure about the other questions. Good luck honey!! I hope this goes so quickly for you, and all of your waiting for waiting for insurance!

the idea is to ovulate within 10 days of your last dose of clomid or femara..

You can switch back to clomid after femara as well, I believe. Femara is more expensive though, if insurance doesn't cover your meds. Also, since you had success once now, you may not need as high of a dose of meds, time can truly make a difference.

Good luck!

When I was on clomid, I think I generally triggered within 4-6 days after finishing where I had a CD3 start, but I had shorter cycles particularly on Clomid & Femara.

Usually if you move to Femara it's because you're having a side effect on Clomid (in my case I had uterine lining thinning on Clomid) so you don't go back...ask your Dr though. My RE wouldn't do more than about 4-6 cycles on Clomid or Femara before wanting to shake up med protocol and move to injectables...his explanation to me was that Clomid & Femara are designed to trick your brain, and over time your body adjusts and they become increasingly less effective - and that was actually my own experience on both, despite 2 pregnancies (both losses) one on Clomid, one on Femara, Femara quit working when we started up again and within 3 cycles RE moved me on to Follistim (which achieved current pregnancy).

I don't believe Femara has a higher chance of multiples - my RE always quoted me about the same chance with either, but maybe someone here can confirm...

Best of luck to you - I hope you get a very positive result this cycle and don't have to worry about what med changes to consider!!

I took Clomid days 5-9 and my RE wanted me to be ready to trigger no later than CD14.

I don't know of any studies that show that Clomid or Femara produce more multiples...it is all about how many eggs are ready for the sperm parade.

Good luck...I hope that you are staring at a BFP very soon!

Thank you ladies, you truly are the best!

I mostly wanted to know because we found out this AM that DS is going to have to have another eye surgery. (He has one last summer). He has stabismus issues that they are working on correcting.

We also have our "what now" consult May 11th. I am hoping to be able to squeeze an IUI cycle in before DS's surgery just so things aren't too stressful and on top of each other.
I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again

I triggered on either CD12, 13 or 14 with Clomid - every cycle was different I suppose because the doses changed.
Good luck to you
