Yes, I am curious about that beta, too!

I know it is an awkward place to be in...on one hand you are so grateful to have one baby, but when everything points to twins and everyone else says "TWINS" it can be disappointing to only see one. Then I would think, "well, one would be easier and less risky, maybe I should be grateful." I was a mess!

Just know that whatever you are feeling, it is normal and okay...don't think that there is a "right" way to feel at this point

I think that I did expect to see 2 in there this morning. I feel so blessed to be pregnant at all. It's been such a process and lots of hours spent with the RE. To get to the point accepting the use of donor eggs was hard for me, but I have to say that I'm soooo happy with my decision! This is the only pregnancy I've ever had & I'm cherishing it all...One baby or two babies...I'm thrilled!!! I can say that I was a little disappointed when there was only one. I don't want to get my hopes up for 2 next week. I'm just taking it as it comes and if this is our one little baby that I saw today...I love him or her soooo much!!! Thanks for saying that stuff though, Melissa. I know that there are ladies here who understand.

YES At 19DPO/14dp5dt (not sure how many weeks that is) only one sac and then at 22DPO or 17dp5dt TWO sacs then at 6.5 weeks two beautiful heart beats. Baby B to this day still measures a few days behind the Baby A.

Your beta is off the hook - You've got to have another one in there!

It's totally okay to admit all of us that you were a little sad not to see twins! If anybody gets it, we do Don't worry about having to edit yourself at all or trying to be thankful for this or that. Sure you're thankful but it's totally okay to also think that there will be two and be sad to see one. Even though it may not have been a long time, just having a couple of days to consider the prospect of twins means you started to let yourself dream and losing that idea still requires some grieving. I don't think other people get that until they walked in this experience

I personally think it's twins but I also understand wanting to emotionally protect yourself and not get your hopes up

Thanks, Girls!
Lauren...It is a little weird to have these HIGH numbers and only see one! I did have a moment during u/s where I thought "keep looking, Doc, there's another!"
All I can do is wait and see what happens and keep praying.
I appreciate all of the support here more than anything!

There are downsides to twins. You're a high risk pregnancy. You are certainly a c section, since NJ has the highest rate in the country. It's super difficult for a lot of women to exclusively breast feed twins, so you might have to give up the idea of doing that. How do you take twin newborns to the supermarket? They have carts for one baby but I've never seen one for two. How do you go on a hike with twin babies when it's just you? How would you go on a plane trip yourself with two?

I'm sure the ladies here with twins have good answers to these but yikes. Personally, I like being able to pick up baby and go, but with twins, it's always a production. And if you are at all into attachment parenting, the first year of twins must be an utter nightmare!

Okay, I'm being a bit melodramatic here, but seriously, a singleton pregnancy and one newborn will be an insane journey as it is.

There are downsides to just one. There are downsides to 3 and 6 and so on. There are also massive benefits to being a parent after surviving this process no matter what the number might be in the end.

Even if I have 1, I'll be high risk and a c-section patient. Morgan, a former ttcma poster, had twins vaginally. Nothing is predetermined or set in stone as an issue or risk.

Having twins isn't a nightmare. What I live is a nightmare. Parenting two is hard. Parenting none is a nightmare. Lets not scare someone needlessly who just needs hope in any form she can get it.

Jessica, There is an unknown that comes along with any new experience that causes anxiety. I'm lucky to be pregnant after this long journey and at this point to think about all of the points you've brought up are moot bc I'm living this now. So if there's one or two, I'm lucky to have a DH that's supportive and loving. I'll let you know how it goes when I go hiking or boating or flying alone with my children. I have grocery shopped with my sister's four kids, so that's a btdt for me. I can give breast feeding my best shot and figure it out as I go. I also have 2 NJ friends who have delivered twins vaginally (one in Denville and one in Newton). If it is twins, we'll figure it all out. Please realize, Jess, that my journey has not been easy or smooth, but it's mine and I'd love twins if that's what's growing in me right now. I'm also fine with one baby bc we just want to grow our family so badly just like everyone on this board. I appreciate your honesty and I'm hoping for your bfp soon.

Any baby is nothing but a blessing including two at a time. There are more risks with twin pregnancy and we are all aware of those when having two or more embies implanted. If you think a TTCMA'er aren't informed of those risks before the decision is made then you don't know us to well. It's more of a nightmare to have a BFN after IVF then it is to take two babies hiking or traveling by yourself or to have a C-section for that matter. I will take a C-section any day of the week rather then to have a failed IVF cycle or live with the fact that my family is complete when we desperately want to grow it.
You may have been trying to be supportive that there was only one sac instead of two but what you don't realize is that you love your embies and if one doesn't make it there is grief involved. I hope you never have to realize that but if you do maybe you would understand the capacity of this post a little better.

Clomid IS TTMCA but the processes/time/money/loss that most of us have been through are far beyond that and this board is a place of support not negativity.
