I have done one cycle with Clomid and cannot remember when my doctor said I need to get my pelvic exam for my next cycle. I was just wondering if you ladies know when about the earliest it could be done (otherwise I will call and ask the office)? My hubs and I are trying to plan a trip to see family around our ttc if possible, but I think this darn pelvic exam will fall right in the middle of when we want to be gone. I am considering having the exam done while on our vacay, but I know it will be MUCH more expensive where we are going since we have no insurance either. If I can get it done here before we go, that'd be ideal, but I don't think it'll work out. So I'm trying to just figure out when the pelvic exam will need to be done (earliest it can be done).

Any help is wonderful, thanks!

You mean like a baseline ultrasound before you start a new cycle?

Are you on clomid for the second cycle now? If so maybe dr is wanting to to u/s to check follies starting around CD10 ? You better call cause that is different then a pelvic exam in my opinion.

No, the pelvic exam is just to check there are no cysts from the last round of Clomid. Not an ultrasound, just a plain old pelvic exam, super fast like 5 min check. Then they give me the refill authorization for the next round of Clomid. I can call the drs office to find out, just found it easier at the moment to ask you ladies, but maybe it is different at my dr's office, no worries. Thanks though!

how are they going to be able to check for cysts completely and measure size if there are any without ultrasound? usually a baseline scan is done on CD3 before you start any meds to ensure that things are quiet.

Let us know what your dr office says. Checking for cysts usually requires u/s that I know of.

I've never heard of that before and I'm not sure how that would work. Either way you'll need a day 3 visit

Agree with the other ladies...you need an ultrasound on CD3. I had cysts after every Clomid round (had to sit out the next cycle and take BCP) and we would never have known about them if not for an ultrasound.

I had cysts twice with clomid and had to sit out. I also didn't think there was any other way to check than u/s.
I hope you are good to go!

Hey ladies, so today was busy and I missed the calls back from my drs office. Two different people called me back and one said ultrasound and one said pelvic exam, so maybe it is just a variation on the name of the procedure. I dunno. Either way, I heard back and need to have it done by day 3 or day 5 depending in when I will be starting Clomid and can have it done a few days earlier as well to accommodate easier scheduling for those who need it (me!) with work and life schedules. So while I got that answered, the hubs and I are still trying to decide if we can plan our trip, but we are leaning towards a yes for now. Yay!

Thanks for all of your input!!!

ooo try and get it on 3 so you can start earlier rather than later!

Good luck hun!!

We did Clomid on cd5-9 last month and I responded really well to it, but they want me to do it on cd3-7 next month though, so guess that is the plan. I need to call around and find a place to get the exam done on our trip and make sure it can all be sorted out, but I think we are going to try to make this trip work!
