I'm sorry... I haven't mentioned it on here since we aren't TTC or TTCMA anymore. I have wanted to pop in and see how y'all are doing and offer support where I can.

It is exciting and kinda scary at the same time. We talked to the RE and the MFM, and discussed the costs of the IVF along with the chance of success and the risks involved. We decided that adoption would be the best route for us. Which is a huge 180 from where we were a few months ago. Confusing as it sounds, adopting an embie was an option, but adoption of a child was not. Clear as mud? Yeah... not really.

Anyway, we've got in touch with a few agencies. The first agency I talked to was awesome, the cost about gave me a stroke. The agencies just went up from there. So now we're fundraising. We have some put away, not quite enough yet though. I started a gofundme and a coffee fundraiser. I don't know.. I guess I'm hoping for a miracle like everyone.

When we started TTCMA, I felt awful, like I was sinking deeper and deeper into this hole that I saw no escape from. It was one blow after another. It was a painful, dark, horrible place I never want to see again.Since we made the decision to adopt, I feel like this huge weight is gone. Almost as though this was the path we were supposed to take, even if it may not work out in the end. I'm expecting a long wait, not only to find a child but also saving the money, I'm expecting lots of heart ache and uphill battles. Who knows, maybe we will be blessed. My heart is missing someone and I know that there is a child somewhere waiting for us like we are for them.

Leah - I'm crossing everything and praying hard that your tests keep getting darker!!
And Lucy... can I just say ... OMG I love seeing your ticker!!!!!!

I thought about that, Lucy lol! But the nearest Starbucks said they couldn't justify having a nurse on staff. There were tears in my venti raspberry white chocolate mocha with extra cream, lots of tears.

The company that my husband works for is based out of Norway. I'm kind of disappointed that they don't seem to have to offer anything decent. I mean the health insurance is ok. Anything preventative is 100% covered. They won't cover infertility treatment but they will cover sterilization. *sigh* Could be worse, I'm just happy to have the coverage. The HR department is super nice though. When I emailed them about adoption assistance, they did everything they could to try find anything that might help and seemed genuinely upset that there wasn't anything.

Good luck sweetie!

I hear you on the clear as mud thing. right now adopting an embie is not a possibility, but adopting a living baby is... :/

I hope you're able to get the funding together quickly and get on the road to bringing home a child!

I don't know you as well, but I would love to hear updates as your journey continues! I feel like adoption of any sort is just another TTC journey, and one that can definitely have a place in TTCMA, even if it is not a "medical" adoption. It is something that I (and maybe some others) might consider at some point in our road, and I would love to hear how things are going with you!

I wish you guys all the best in this new adventure and hope that your fundraising goes well and quickly for you!!!

I have heard of gofundme, but what is this coffee fundraiser? I do know people who drink lots of coffee, so I may need some ::cough,cough:: if you know where I could get some info on coffee!

In my endless quest diving through adoption information, I came across a blog linked to Pinterest, of all places, where a couple who had adopted started this company "Just Love Coffee Roasters" to help other adoptive parents with the fundraising.
Here's a link to my "fundraising storefront"
I haven't tried any of the coffee yet though lol.

I appreciate the kind words from you all. We've signed up for a session with an agency we feel is relatively balanced. We have our initial meeting with them in the second week of May.

Hey Gretchen! We have. Independent Adoption Center here in Dallas/Fort Worth. The staff have been amazing and the cost isn't as prohibitive as most. We've been quoted anywhere from $27k through $52k!!

Lucy - you and Leah are getting bossy
