How many days are you taking your progesterone suppositories after O? I'm on day 12 and still my HPT is neg. I think it's ok to give up now but I've been playing phone tag with my doctor for a week now so I don't know for sure..?

Hello! Two weeks after my IUI, my RE would always run a blood test. When we found out it was negative, I would immediately stop. So, I would say maybe stick it out another two days and if it's still neg then stop.

My doctor always had me quit mine after a week of negative HPTs. I guess it's different for each doctor.

Can you tell me more about progesterone supplements? Did your doctor prescribe them? Do they help you implant? I got my progesterone checked after O and it was a 7 and I feel like that was low and my doctor said it was within normal range. Every article I find says a 7 is very low! Who do I beleive

Sorry for the late reply, I don't get to visit as often as I'd like! Unfortunately I have no idea why my RE has me on progesterone as he's said all my hormone levels look good, but he did say progesterone helps suppress m/c so I have a feeling that's why I take it. I have an appointment with him Monday 11/27 so I'll be sure to ask these questions then!

Edited to add: One possible reason he prescribed progesterone to suppress m/c is that I have Hashimotos, which in a nutshell is an abnormal immune response, and has been linked to miscarriage.

I was doing some research online and found the blurb below about progesterone and the LP. By the way this is a great site with a lot of information about fertility and tx! http://www.ivf.com/ch11mbpg2.html

Short luteal phase: If you are undergoing ovulation induction treatment, you will want to pay particular attention to the fourteen days following ovulation. Should your period start within ten days of the temperature rise, you may have a progesterone deficiency (luteal phase defect). Without an adequate progesterone supply the uterine lining will not develop properly and the embryo will fail to thrive.
