Ok so I had kerytyping done after my second m/c. That was about a year and a half ago. Do you all know what exactly that tests for? I know essentially it looks at genetics and chromosomes but does it test for things like natural killer cells, mthfr, and FSH levels? I'm getting my FSH checked, and the results will be in tomorrow but I'm just wondering if I should be asking for other things to be looked at as well???

Thanks for your help. I like to play Dr with my Dr...oh wait that sounds bad, I don't mean "Play doctor" I just like to tell him what to do in terms of my tesing LOL...although he is pretty cute....JK!

Dr's office called. Told me my FSh level was 8.37 and it has to be under 10 and my estradol level was 44 and they like to see it under 65. So i guess both are good...that's good to know. But I'm still wondering what keryotyping covers...anyone know?

Our results are about the same - I was FSH 8.8 and E2 was 156 (which is a CDN value - US would be 44).

I knew nothing about the karyotype test so started searching and found a few links. Karyotype is a test to identify and evaluate the size, shape, and number of chromosomes in a sample of body cells.

This is the only one worth reading http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/461853.

HTH's!

Thanks kitty mom!! You're a doll! Does your Dr know why it's been difficult to get pg for you? Just wondering since we seem to have these number values in common

For me it's my age, my thyroid and now blocked tubes <rolls eyes>. He says that 8.8 is the high end of normal for a woman of my age combined with hypothyroidism (that can really work against your ovaries I guess) and also combined with my cycles going from 28 days my entire adult life to suddenly dropping to 24 days last February. He said the eggs I am producing are probably not of a good enough quality and meds would help - he wnated to start me off with femara and IUI until we found out my tubes were blocked. Early menopause is a concern because my mom started when she was 30, my sister had a hysterectomy from it mid-30's and my other sister started in her mid-30's as well. My father's mom however had a baby when she was 43 so at least I have hope from that side of my family

Our numbers are actually quite good from my research (I say ours because they are pretty darn close!) - it's just the thyroid causing grief on my ovaries and my age coming into play that is weakening my chances every month. I will know more Monday...(is it Monday yet? OMG I have been counting down the days).

Thank you so much for sharing with me. I really hope Monday brings good news for you. I have had my thyroid checked before and it was fine. I am going to have an HSG on Monday because I just need to know my tubes aren't blocked for peace of mind. You let me know how monday goes for you ok? Best wishes to you!!!

I am so glad your hormone level was ok Norina

I am confused over this test too. Our Dr at the fertility clinic has requested that DB get it done
and he was tested last wk. He never asked me to get tested though...
They said the results take around 6wks too!!! WTH?!

Glad everything ok. I am going to read that link now.
Thanks Kittymom
