My OB has a plan for me,and right now its Clomid.I have done one cycle of 50mg and I still didnt O,and now I have to do 50mg again this next cycle, and if that doesnt work,I have to do 100mg of Clomid for 2 cycles.
My OB said that if that doesnt do the trick, she wont keep me on Clomid (she doesnt want me on it for more than 4 months) she will start me on injections.
The thing is,I dont O at all and havent done since I stopped BCP in July..thats a long time, and even longer if you count the 7 years I was taking BCP...so Im worried that nothing is going to work.
As I said, the Clomid didnt make me O at all...
What are the injections she is talking about? Are they like Clomid? Will I have to have them daily or just for 5 days like Clomid?
Because I dont know what shes talking about,I cant find any info kwim?
Will anything make me O? Thats my only problem ..if I could O,I stand a chance, but right now my body is putting up a fight and being a pain in the *****!
Injectible medications are things like follistim. They work similar to clomid but they're more direct so they tend to have a better effectiveness. I can't seem to find the website I was thinking about that had info on it. I do believe that you take the injections from the start of your cycle (or near that) until you ovulate. With injects my RE wanted to monitor me frequently... so I'd take X amount by injection each night, then every other day or so I'd go in for an ultrasound so they could judge how it was working and then they would adjust the dosage if necessary. All of that really helps them to get you to ovulate.
I don't think anyone can say for sure that it will work for you... but I think it's the logical next step to get you to ovulate! I hope it works for you!
There are several injections that you can be prescribed either w/ or w/o Clomid. Now, it makes sense to me that your dr would up the dose of Clomid before doing injectables. After having been on BCP for so long, your body may need a BIG boost to get you back on track. I would think that you would need to try 100mg then 150mg before considering injections. If you do go w/ the injections, there are several used to stimulate the ovaries & then to make you O. Here are a few...
