Those of you who take Clomid...do you have any advice or any thoughts about Clomid. I go to see my OB 3/14 and he will be starting me on Clomid that cycle. I don't really know a whole lot about it and just wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks in advance!!

<waves> Hi Nicole!

Well I say prepare for the worst and hope for the best Some get really bad s/e's and some get none. My 2 suggestions would be to start taking EPO or Flax (or combo) because I had real issues with my CM on Clomid (or order some pre-seed). The second suggestion is to take your pill before you go to bed at night - sleeping through a good portion of the immediate s/e's.

I hope it works for you!!!!

Let me add a third - I would definitely use OPks at a bare minimum (not sure if you will start charting again or not). If you are going to put your body through the rigors of Clomid then definitely make the most out of every cycle

Hi,
I would definintely say the hot flashes are the worst. This is my 2nd cycle with clomid & IUI- (dpIUI- 5).
The first cycle we got a bfn. I am 10 days away from testing!!! I am also not charting or temping or testing this cycle because I did last cycle & got a bfn. I also realized that the clomid messes with your body so
the tests come out false positive!!! Good luck & baby dust to you!!!

That's why my doctor is putting me on it because of two early miscarriages. He thinks it will help to balance me out and make it easier for me to get and stay pregnant. I hope it works!!!

Hi hun!!! I will probably use the OPK's, I think I am done with charting for a while...it made me seriously crazy!! I ordered Preseed already just to prepare myself. I will be ready for this...I hope!!!

i wish you lots of luck!!!! Glad to hear you got the preseed, hubby and i LOVE it. I also take EPO and Robitussin to help with the CM. It's not that I don't get enough CM, it's that I get it too early and the epo and robitussin helps thin it out.
Other than that i didn't really experience any s/e at all. Slight hot flashes mostly at night time... but that's it. Hopefully this is all you will need for a sticky BFP!!!

Hey Nicole!

Best advice I have is to take it at night and sleep through the s/e's. I just got emotional and hot flashes....and they are gone within the week or early the next week. Good luck to you hon. I hope Clomid helps with sticky vibes!!

Hi Nicole!

Congrats on starting clomid hun

I did 6mths on it and suffered bad mood swings so i would advise to 'pre warn' DH
of how nasty you may be

It is a tough time for a lot of women.
I pray it brings you that BFP

Sarah

Hey Nicole! I've seen you around on the boards & am glad you have found your way in here. Ok, let me rephrase that, I'm not happy that you had to get this far but am glad you are here for support!

Some other things you may want to know about Clomid is that it may lengthen your LP. Mine usually ran about 16 days so don't go POAS mad & think you are pg like I did. It will drive you INSANE! Also, your temps may be higher b/c of it. Oh, & if you use OPKs, don't start using them until 2-3 days after your last dose. It may cause a false +. Best of luck hun!

I took 50 mg in jan, and this cycle 100 mg. I think the s/e that was the worse were the hot flashes. I think the bad s/e for dh was the mood swings and being emotional. When he heard about the 100 mg he wanted to stay a work for that week.

Hi Nicole!!!
I hope it works for you! It really isnt that bad..I was expecting the worst and the only really bad side effect I had was terrible insomnia after I finished my last pill.I would lay awake ALL night
Other than that..I had nothing.
It can also mess with your body something terrible! I started spotting on CD33 and it lasted right up until CD43..I thought AF was NEVER going to show up!
Just take it easy and dont worry to much about the side effects because there are more people that dont have them than people that do..the hot flashes are bearable,I found the insomnia more anoying than anything else.
I hope it works for you!!! Good luck!

I agree that taking it at night helps a lot. The first cycle I took it in the am and had headaches for about a week. After that I took it at night and had hardly any side effects. Sometimes a dull headache and moodiness, like pms.

I also noticed my ovaries would ache a little right around O time. You feel more aware of your ovaries.

Hi. I echo the things some of the others said, take the tablets at night to minimise side effects, the EPO tablets, using the OPKs ( I used digital ones) I aslo drank green tea after taking clomid and before ovulation.

Also worth discussing with your doc are the days you take the tablets - everyone is told something differmnt depending on why they are taking clomid in the first place.

Mine was fr PCOS. I got lucky the second round, so good luck!!

Good luck with the clomid!

This month was my first on it and I'm happy to say that I had no side effects. To be on the safe side I took them at night. I hope you're spared the s/e as well.
