HAs anyone had this procedure? I am going tommorrow for some preliminary blood work as well as this sonohisterography thing and the only thing I have been able to find so far on the procedure is that they will inject saline(??) into my uterus through a catheter and do a vaginal ultrasound at the same time to visualize something. Does it hurt? Will I bleed after? Should I be taking tylenol or something? I am so frikkin nervous about all this crap that is about to happen.

For those who don't know HERE is the link to my update and what is going on.

Thanks guys

Okay that answered my question in the IVF thread.

I have never had it done but from reading over at FF it seems to not be near as painful as the HSG - just a bit messy. Hopefully it is pain free for you too.

I had no idea you had found out such devastating news.

Hi Sandy,

I just read your thread and familiarized myself with your story. I'm very sorry you're having to deal with this bad news. I know it's tough, but it is still a battle that can be won, so stay strong.

I have had the sono done, but I was asleep at the time, so I can't help you on expectations. I had mine done at the same time as my tubes were removed a couple months back. My tubes have been completely blocked for years and ended up filled with fluid (detected during my 5th IVF cycle) so they needed to be removed before proceeding. From what I've heard though, the procedure itself is really not all that bad, so try not to worry about it. I would think a couple of Advil before the procedure can't hurt, just in case you do get some cramping.

As for starting down the IVF path - I know this can be a bit overwhelming but there are a several of us here that you can draw on from our experiences for comfort and support.

Good luck with your upcoming tests and all the best on your TTC w/medical assistance journey!
