My friend and I ren to a greenhouse over lunch. We are having some rainy weather today. When we arrived at the shop, the tornado siren went off. Yeah, no big deal to us, happens at least 3 times a year around us. We just decided to watch the sky and continue looking. We had finished looking around and my friend had purchased a bar of soap. She puts it in her purse and the second siren went off. Err...not good. We went to the window and looked out. We saw some cardboard about 50 yards in the sky! I said I didn't see it and looked again--there was more! It was about 3 houses away and 50 yards up in the sky. We turned around and yelled at the ladies in the shop we needed to head to their basement. There were about 7 of us total. We stayed down there about 5 minutes and then came up. Everything had passed our area. As we headed to the car we saw tree limbs, insulation, garbage cans, and a ton of other debris. We started to head back to work and had to stop to drag trees out of the street. We ended up driving around town a little. The McD's roof was half blown off, signs down, a car at a dealership had been picked up and placed on another. Windows broken, trees uprooted... Wow! I was watching the news when I got back to work and saw the size of the tornado that had been taped. Wow! We're lucky, very! I'm still shaken up, but I'm alright.

Holy cow!!! We just had the same storm system come over by us... your town sure got nailed!!!!! It died down a bit before hitting us ("just" reds and pinks on the doppler rather than tornados), but it was enough for our sirens to go off as well... then it fired up again to the east of us. We sure dodged a bullet here!!!
I'm so glad you and your friend are alright... phew!!!!
OMG!!!!! First my parents survived a tornado that literally went right through their property & now you...how coincidental is that? I'm so happy you girls looked up to see the tornado after the 2nd siren. AMAZING! Be thankful to God!
Wow that is lucky!!! We are having terrible weather here to!! They are reporting dollar sized hail near the ks/mo (mostly on the missouri side) border! We just keep getting hit with T storm after T storm!
