Hi ladies! I have been trying to get some time to spend on JM but every evening when I get home, there seems to be something else I have to do. DH's father has not been well for the past 2 weeks. He finally went in yesterday for a colonoscopy & a scan. They found quite a bit of fluid around his heart. This fluid can only come from a few things: a virus, cancer, or liver disfunction. We have no idea at this point why this is happening but he is going in right now for a heart cathederization & then this evening for tubes in his chest to drain the fluid. When the fluid is out, they will begin to test it to see what the cause is. He was in ICU last night but has been moved to a private room. Please send all thoughts & prayers his way. His name is Bill. Also, I may not be on much tonight & through the weekend based on how this all plays out. Hopefully everything will be fine.

~~~UPDATE~~~
Well, the past 48 hrs have flown by. We spent all Friday evening & most of yesterday at the hospital. Bill had his heart catheterized on Friday morning no problems & finally yesterday morning at 9:30am, he was taken in to get the tube inserted to drain the liquid around his heart. During surgery, the dr took out a quart of liquid (750mL) & anothe quart drained during the day yesterday. The tube comes out right below his sternum & was inserted into his pericardium, the sac that surrounds the heart. He came out of surgery w/ high blood pressure so they were monitoring him closely. As it turns out, he was in "pain" & was trying to John Wayne it. We finally convinced him to get something for it & then came the morphine...needless to say, his BP went down significantly. Stubborn man! About 3 hrs later he woke up & had what they call "vaggling" where the BP drops dramatically & quickly. He went from rosey cheeks to yellow in a matter of seconds. His BP went down to 35/15 but the nurse managed to get it back up. Since then, he has been recovering & doing better. We will be visiting him again this afternoon for Father's Day. They have not found the cause as of yet. They have pretty much ruled out a bacterial infection & doubt that it is viral but they won't know for a couple of days. There are only a few more options out there, cancer or some type of liver dysfunction. Either way, we will still need the prayers.
Thank you for all the prayers & support. I knew I could count on you ladies!
My thoughts are with you, DH and FIL right now. I hope that they are able to get to the bottom of what is causing these problems for him and get him on the road to recovery.
TY ladies! Hopefully it is just a virus that will go away. DH is an only child & they have no family here. Everyone lives in PA. It is already hard enough to watch him butch up to support his mom. I'm the only one he can lean on.
I'll be praying for you three! More than likely it is probably a virus, and he'll be ok -- my grandmother had the same thing happen to her during a bout of pneumonia. She had a rough couple of weeks, but she is fine now. Hopefully the same will be true for your FIL as well!
Astrid I am so sorry to hear about your FIL. Did they find out anything new after his procedure yesterday?
