Ladies,
I am due for a laproscopy next month to see what the heck is going on with the right tube blockage. I have already checked out the tests and procedures section and there was a lot of good info, but I have a few questions. Does anyone know which days of your cycle they normally do? Also, I could've sworn that my doctor said they'd go in and look and then we'd have a consult to discuss options (ie can it be fixed, removed, left alone) and then I guess they go back in after the consult?? So I have to do this twice, does that sound right? Also, about how many days off work did everyone seem to need? Does the fertility specialist do the procedure usually or some other surgeon? Finally, sorry for the questions, but here is a silly one, everyone mentions the CO2 gas that they pump into you and then it all comes out, does it come out after the surgery while you are on the table like a huge fart? hehehe, just wondering how embarrassing this will all be.

I can answer a few questions as I just had laparoscopy for an ectopic 3 weeks back.
I had my left tube removed.
I'm not sure that they would look for a particular day in the cycle. My doc just called on friday and I had the surgery on tuesday. My doc said to take 2 days off but I was still loopy so I took 4 days off.
Surgery was done by my RE so I think your RE does the surgery for you too.
After pumping in the co2 my belly was a little bloated which eventually came back to normal after a week.
It may take a few days for the gas to come off.My doc suggested walking it off.Even I was hoping it would come out like a huge .... or a burp but that didn't happen.I had a lot of burping. But I did not do any heavy work for atleast a week.you know vacuuming, putting dishwasher etc.

Try to relax and take it easy after the surgery.
This was my expereince but yours may be different and maybe you'll get one big burp and that's it.
You can PM me anytime if you have more questions.Good luck Hon..

I had a laparoscopy about a year ago.
My RE did it. Didnt matter what cd i was on. I wouldnt think you would have 2 laps done. Probably the options your RE is talking about is treatment options like IUI or ivf. If he goes in and finds endo or scar tissue then they will deal with it right then and there.
I took about 2 days off for my lap not counting the weekend.

I had 2 laps done (both tubes removed for ectopics) and the first time I was SO bloated and the CO2 caused ALOT of pain! It was awful. So when I had my 2nd lap I told them how bad that part was and asked them to please make sure to "deflate" me really good, and I have to say they did! I had some bloating, but nowhere near as bad as the 1st one and I wasn't in any pain from the CO2 at all. I believe they use a pump or something to siphon out the gas when they're done, so no farting noises
I wouldn't think they'd go in twice, usually if it can be fixed, they do it while they're in there. I wasn't working at the time of either surgery but I did take a week off of my normal activities.
Good luck with the tube!
