Called the clinic back today to set up an appt for dh's 1st sample freezing. A new nurse now tells me that I have to be a patient there before they will freeze dh's swimmers. Even though we are paying cash! It's going to take me 3 weeks to get a referral approved for myself, then 2-3 more weeks for an appt, then we would have to set up an appt for dh. He will be gone by the time this all happens. I even explained to the nurse that I talked to another nurse on Friday and because of our circumstances would have no problem getting the swimmers frozen before he leaves. Grrrr........
I'm going to try to call back in an hour or so and try to get someone else. I don't understand because we're paying cash for everything, there should be no problems here. WTH?!?!

That is weird -- if you are paying cash, you shouldn't have to even worry about a referral. You should just be able to make an appointment?

I agree. It shouldn't be an issue if you are paying cash. I'd definitely call back and try to get a different nurse on the phone.

This is what I said. And it's weird that now I have to go through a complete work through before they will freeze dh's sample.

If the clinic doesn't budge on this, I believe you can store samples at a sperm bank for a storage fee if you have one in your area.

That's great news cause I've been calling around to clinics trying to find a place to store the swimmers lol! I never even thought of the sperm bank! That's so obvious too. I'm going to start calling them now and we'll see!

What a mess! Did you by chance get the name of the nurse you spoke to on Friday? I would try talking to her again. Let us know how the search for a freezer spot goes.

To me- with the military and reason he won't be here etc. and the time crunch, AND the fact you are paying cash- I think they'd be able to go ahead and schedule maybe all the apts. right on top of each other. I don't see the reason for the waits. Why does his appt. have to be 3 weeks after yours etc. You'd think they'd be able to speed it up in your case! Is there a nearby city with another clinic you can try?!
