I have a question... this is my first month on clomid cd2-6, i have always ovulated on my own, I am taking it for a short luteal phase. Anyway, I am going to be doing IUI this month as well. I am on CD15 and no + opk yet so I went in for b/w and u/s today. I had an ultrasound at the beginning of my cycle and there were multiple (like probably 10 or more on each side) small follicles that I saw at that point.

My regular RE wasn't in today since it's Sunday (he's usually good about explaining things) and it was just some lady who did NO explaining. But all I saw on the u/s this time was NOTHING on the left side and ONE huge black mass on the right pretty much almost the size of the whole ovary. My bloodwork indicated my estrogen levels were up but my LH wasn't yet so I have to go back for b/w tomorrow.

Aren't you supposed to have multiple follicles idealy when taking clomid? I wonder why I just had what looked like one ginormous one? Is this normal on clomid do you know? And what happened to all the others I had before? I am going to ask them when I talk to my regular doctor tomorrow, but I hope it's nothing to worry about?? Any idea? thanks!!

I know when I took Clomid on days 5-9 I usually only had one or two big eggs. However in the beginning I usually had 8 or so on each side. Then this last cycle we uped my dosage to 100mg and I took it on days 3-7 and I ended up having 4 large eggs and of course many more than that in the beginning. Are you scheduled for another u/s tomorrow as well? I would definately ask your RE. Keep us posted. I hope you get your BFP soon!

Sometimes the minimum dose doesn't do it for some of us! Maybe the results are different than what you are thinking so keep a positive attitude!

I can tell you that on 50 mgs of Clomid, I would have 4-5 follicles. Each of the two cycles I had a tvu on CD 13, then a trigger shot. Both times, I had 1 dominant follicle of 20-24 (size of the follicle) and one almost dominant follicle of 18-20. They explained that it is normal to have several small follicles and one (or two) big follicles on Clomid. If you have the one dominant follicle rupture, that is exactly what they want to see. I think so at least.

hi there... for me i had 2 follicles on clomid 50mg, one on each side. i would not get too disturbed about only seeing 1 now, it could be you ovulated the other one already. OPK's for me are usually iffy, so i always went off what the doc told me. good luck.

Well I haven't ovulated yet, i've been going in for daily b/w so I can time the IUI right and so far no ovulation. So far there is only one follie showing up but my estrogen levels are very high and so the nurse said that could mean multiple follies but I only saw one so far. Also my lining was only at a 6, doc said they like to see it at an 8... so I hope that improves. I did hear that clomid can thin out the lining though.

I would ask you RE. Did the DR measure your follicle?
Usually follicle's do not just dissapear, the only way they would go away would be if you ovulated, and even then you would still see something. Maybe the DR who did you ultrasound just didn't look hard enough.

I haven't ovulated yet. My estrogen levels were about 800 at their highest point yesterday. Today's bloodwork showed them dropping but the nurse said they usually drop before ovulation. I'm not sure what my LH levels were as they didn't tell me numbers, but they said that I haven't LH "surged" yet. More bloodwork tomorrow.
