Hi there,

I just had my first round of Follistim + IUI and am nearing the end of the 2ww and don't have a good feeling about this cycle. I just feel the same as every other failed cycle.

I'm just wondering if the shots + IUI has worked for anybody, can you tell me how many cycles of shots/IUI it took to get you your BFP and what your cause of infertility was? I guess I'm just looking for a little hope that it can take more than one cycle/attempt at this, and see if it actually got someone a BFP who is in my situation (unexplained, though my doc. seems to think that my ovulation isn't that great, even though I do ovulate.) My doc. also said that if it is going to work, it usually will right away, in the first or second attempt. I'm also trying to decide how many times to do this before moving to IVF.

Thanks so much!

Yes it does work!!! I started fertility treatment in Sept. of 06. We also did the follistism and IUI. I got pregnant in Oct but sadly miscarried in Dec. We began treatment again in Feb. of this year and got our BFP in June. I have PCOS which is why we did the treatments. It can happen. I'm due to have a boy in February. Don't give up!!! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks OHChick and lisamarie...

Lisamarie--did you have any early symptoms? I am now 11 dpo and have nothing except for sore nipples, but am assuming that is prob. from the meds.

As you can see from my siggy, it worked for us! I have irregular ovulation (no known cause though... all tests were negative), but our main issue turned out to be male factor... so we used donor sperm for our IUIs. THe 2nd round worked (now I'm almost 32 wks pg).

As for symptoms... I had more symptoms with my BFN cycles than I did with my BFP cycles. I actually had NO pregnancy symptoms whatsoever until about 10 weeks. So don't get discouraged if you don't feel anything different! All the symptoms I ever had early on I'm pretty sure were just due to the progesterone I was on... not from pregnancy. Good luck!!!!!

I did GonalF and IUI and it worked the 2nd time. But sadly it was an ectopic and I lost one tube.
Now this month I'm doing 3rd round of IUI and hopefully this will work.My RE doesn't do more than 3 IUI's.
Oh, I'm anavulatory(sp?) and my FSH level isn't that great.

I did Gonal-f injections and IUI and it worked the 1st try! I have PCOS. I didn't have any symptoms that I thought were pregnancy symptoms and not just from the meds. I just now started having some nausea, etc.
