My husband is a tech so he's got one of those. It can read most codes, but sometimes there are brand specific codes that you have to bring to the dealer to read. Even the one at work wont read for some cars say.. Chrysler or something.

Mine can read the generic & the manufacturer specific codes; I only have the one vehicle and tend to stick to Fords anyway.

I can put gas in the car and usually I can turn on the headlights and make the wipers work.

lol, too cute.

My Dad was a car enthusiast, and since he had just the one child who ended up being a girl, he decided that I got to be a grease monkey & learn about cars.

He used to take me with him on calls in his tow truck, and I used to help him work on vehicles.

My Dad has always believed that a woman should learn at least the basics which includes changing a tire, putting air in a tire, checking fluid levels, changing wipers - those sorts of things.

Because I was a single Mom, this also made things a lot easier for me. Besides, for the most part, I still rather enjoy working on cars

I just took my new van to auto zone to get my codes read yesterday. They always seem amazed I know what they are talking about. LOL

The van needs a speed sensor, thats another issue completely, but easy enough to fix.

I am so tired after Zaris bday party. I want to go to sleep now. This is what I get for giving myself ten extra "holidays" per year....LOL

went to the baby shower today (my ex-husbands neice). even though i get along with all of them and he does not so much, it still felt weird. but they DID invite me so...

it is hotter that dog poop out here! it was 101 in my car when i got back to my daughter's house after the shower. and remember, i stiiiiiiiiiill have no a/c working in my car. i came home to the house a/c, the ceiling fan and a separate electric fan in my room blowing on me, laying there in my undies, just trying to cool off.

tonight we are taking matthew to dinner for his 30th birthday -- going to a hibachi grill place (think benihana's). mmmm so yummy!

did i mention i HATE hot weather?!

I thought I'd jump in here. I'm super bored. We were supposed to go out but my dh sat around all day and doesn't feel like going anywhere now. I guess he forgets that I'm home ALL day ALL week with the kids and Saturday is the only day I get to go out.

Reading your posts reminded me that I need to get the engine light on our van figured out. I'm sure it is some sensor but it won't pass inspection with it on and we have to register it this month. Fun fun.

I am so glad FL did away with inspections long before I started to drive.

DH got the baby a swing today. It is electric. Why didn't they do tht a long time ago?

lol, fw, and hope the baby loves the swing.

I hardly know anything about vehicles, I didn't get married for nothing, and if I don't know then I don't have to deal with it. But my van is pretty new and I have "my guy Melvin" (that's what we call him) at the shop in town.

I am scrapbooking my mission trip pictures. I don't have time, nor does my youngest (she is 6) even have a baby album (I am ashamed of this) but I want to write it all down before I forget. So it's not beautiful or impressive, but it's started.

I am so TIRED. I haven't had a day that seemed to never end in a long time.

I am pretty proficient when it comes to fixing vehicles and what I don't know I tend to learn. We have an awesome mechanic that I found by accident so lately I just go to him and when I leave I don't feel ripped off. I actually feel like I ripped them off lol

Im terrible at fixing cars. I have a 1993 jeep which has chronic problems too, so I really should learn something about it, its always in the shop.

That's fantastic!

My dad owns a used car dealership so he buys crashed cars and fixes them. He can do it all. He never let me touch a thing. My brother was forced to help him but he really had little interest and didn't really learn much. I wish my dad was more like yours. It would have been awesome to know about cars. I bought him an OEM thingy several years ago and he was so happy with it and was like "Wow, where did you get this?" I love hands on stuff and would have been much better off going to a technical place than what my degree is in. I wish someone would have told me that I could make money as a girl doing electronics or whatever. That would be so awesome, I would so enjoy to do work like that. I'd rather have a wrench or soldering iron in my hand than a power point remote but such is life. I won't stop my kids from doing what they were born to do. That's for sure!

My last couple kids I never even fed cereal to. I just went straight to sweet potatoes or avocado. That was at like 6 months though.

My DH does some people's cars on the side, but he doesn't have much time usually. He might be putting a new top on a friend's mustang, but we'll see if he actually comes through with money. People always do that, say they REALLLY need something done, then just never call you again to have it fixed. He offered to do it for 1/4 the price that his place would do it for, so that's fair to me.

DH decided he is going to build the new baby a crib instead of us buying one. I just had to save the metal spring mattress holder thing from the other crib, not sure he could make that part lol.

I want a plug in swing too FW!! Of course the few that are new on Amazon etc are over $100, so I save for it. Would be so much better than buying stock in D batteries!

Yes, an electric swing would be a life-saver. My last two didn't really spend much time in a swing though.

Have fun scrapbooking!

I'm so jealous that FL doesn't have car inspections! Dh's car is up this month and there is no way it will pass inspection as is.

Dh says his hobby is working on cars. He BIL (the mechanic) and I think he needs a new hobby, lol!

Today is Em's 7th birthday!! So we are planning a day full of cupcake baking and decorating. Next weekend we will do a party for extended family and friends to attend.

Electric swing...interesting. I never used to many batteries though, my last few only used them here and there.

Happy birthday to Em!!

I also never used cereal and just waited till mine could eat from the table.

I have a horrible headache and need to take my pups into town with a sign that says "FREE" and hope someone takes them. They are cute and I love them but its time for them to find forever homes.

Put em on craigslist.

We have emissions testing here, but only for cars up to a certain year. Neither of our vehicles have problems, and my van better **** not it's too new to have major problems!

I just took my car through inspection. Here we have to go the DMV to do it.

It has been pouring buckets here all day. Nice lazy Sunday.

Im only giving him rice cereal in his bottle to thicken it some because I suspect he is having some tummy troubles. About 1/2 -1 tsp per 3-4 oz.

Happy Bday to Em!!

MI doesn't have inspections either.

I agree, put the pups on CL. Good luck!

You can't put pup's on craigslist. I even tried rewording it to fit their guidelines and they still kicked them off. One went to a new home she was one of our favorites and I am sure one more has a home but they had to go to church first so they took our number. That leaves 2 left of the 8 we had.

We just started inspection about 1-2 years ago. I was certian our vehicles wouldn't pass and when they did it shocked the hell out of me! I think we have low standards cause about the only reason people have failed is because the check engine light is on.
