I am loading stuff to run errands before my BFF's ex-husband's funeral. He died suddenly last Thursday morning of a heart attack. He was 44. He was a jerk. He was a jerk to my BFF and their 2 daughters. Their youngest daughter is 18. A few years ago she asked my husband and I to be her God parents. So, she holds a special place in our lives. We are going to support her. She wants to speak and say somethings that her step mother (witch) won't care for. I have cautioned her to be judicious in her choice of words as no one will think differently of her father, but anything she says will reflect on her. Then I am going to get a new rooster. Our last one was taken on Friday.
I am still outraged at the treatment of the daughters of the guy whose funeral I went to. I am not making this up: it was a small chapel at the funeral home. There were 4 rows reserved for family. When the family came in, it was the wife, her extended family (brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, her sons, etc) They took up the first 3 rows. Then, the daughters, his mother, and sister. They were not counted as "family". I guess it all depends on who writes the checks. My BFF's daughters spoke at it. The younger one is 18 and is my God daughter, at her request a couple years back. She was absolutely great. She spoke of her memories of her father, but they were all before he married this woman. She even said "when my dad was married to his second wife, I remember...." No mention of his marriage to this wife. I was impressed at her wit.
I am thrilled that we came home to find the new rooster hanging out happily with the hens! It was a vision! He is a beauty and the weather is amazing with bright green new leaves on the pecan trees and a brilliant blue sky that can only be found in N FL in the spring! What a day to be alive!
