My 6 year old sucks her thumb, she was a very content baby so she didn't really need a soother, but now she's a thumbsucker. My 4 year old refused her soother, she's been sucking her 2 fingers from the beginning.

I sucked my thumb when I was a kid.

None of my kiddos have sucked their thumb so far, Nessa did have a pacifier until she was 3 though.

None of my kids suck or sucked their thumbs. Also no pacifiers here either. I don't remember if I sucked my thumb when I was young. I do remember having my security blanket with me everywhere I went.

I had two binkie kids, one who did nothing, and DD #4 sucked on her right middle finger and ring finger...she always looked like she was saying "I love you" in sign language, or "Rock on!!!" It's very cute; she actually dropped the habit a few weeks ago when she got sick.

I used to suck the same fingers as DD #4. They are all relatively calm children...except for #3; she's a bit more active...maybe cuz she didn't have a sucking habit!!

Well my first would cry alot but I don't know if it was from hunger, for attention or just that I was a first time MOM. My kids were generally calm as babies.

But come to think of it, I breastfed so I WAS their pacifier . Now they always want attention and always on the go. You may have something there!

Nope, none of my kids have sucked their thumb and none took pacifiers either. I tried to get them to take a pacifier though, not interested.
