I'm half & half, though hopefully today I will get things a bit more organized around here with the boys help, since they are off school today.
The flooding of the basement in the summer really frigged things up around here & has made things nuts, but eventually things will get back on track.
We put up our tree last night and all three kids were HORRIBLE. Not exactly the family memory I was hoping for... It didn't hold Matt and Beth's attention at all, so they spent their time running around with super loud and annoying toys, and baby Carrie spent her evening trying to take things back of the tree and crying.
Against my better judgement I still served hot cocoa afterwards (which I always let the older two have in real mugs) and they started playing at the table of course. Matt got like one sip, then his whole cup spilled all over him and shattered onto the floor. Good times! So bath and bed for those two.
Oh and it has been raining all day and all night. It's like 44 degrees I think. We live in Connecticut! It should be snowing! If it had been a little colder I bet we would have gotten a lot too. Instead it is just very nasty out.
Okay moment over....now I need to get on with the holiday shopping, lol.
Not me. I've been feeling Christmassy since the day after Halloween!!! Today it's in full force as we're having a horrendous blizzard today, so we're all snug in the house making gingerbread and ginger snaps. I love watching the snow swirl around outside! Having the music on and watching my favorite Christmas movies does it for me, the smell of Christmas baking puts it into over-drive. LOL
I am getting better. I canceled Christmas a few days ago, but Farmer said I couldn't do that. Instead, I am keeping it a very low key, quiet Christmas. Not too many gifts, not too much hoopla. We just got home a little while ago from a local churches recreation of Bethlehem, complete with camels! Then they have cookies and cocoa in their fellowship hall. We sat and talked and visited with friends. It was very nice. I sat with my friend who just had #8! She is bummed because her very particular mother just told her they were coming down from Iowa for Christmas with them. So now she is all worked up about what all she should do. I said don't change a thing you were already going to do. Baby years give you a pass to do very little, bare minimum.
All that to say, relax, keep it simple, and just have a nice time each day.
LOL I cancel Christmas often, sometimes it's all I have left to use when it's been one of those days!
We put the tree up tonight & decorated it. No pictures yet as it takes me a couple days of staring at it & seeing it from different angles so I find all the 'bare' spots and things and get it to where I can just stand there & not see something else lol
