Do you have matching or themed Christmas stockings? We did when there were 4 of us but I am not spending money pn matching stockings until I know we are done. For now we all have those 1.99 fuzzy red ones from Walmart that I bought on clearance last year.
We had the 99 cent dollar store variety for years and years, and for the longest time I had been wanting matching ones (basically since we had our 5th and last) and had never wanted to spend the money, untill last week, I ran into these cowboy boot stockings and 5 different ones. I caved and bought them, and they look really cool and the kids love them too.
We have these really fancy ones from LL Bean or something like that, with their names embroidered on the top. My mil got them for her home to decorate with all her grandchildren (at the time) and my sil (the self absorbed, yet cheapskate &^%$) asked for the 4 with her kids on them. So, my mil (sounding kind of sad) asked me I wanted the ones with my kids on them. I said I would be happy to have them if she didn't want to keep them. She said it didn't make sense since (sil) took hers. So I did. Now, with each new baby, she orders a matching stocking for him/her. It is actually one of my favorite things she does for us. That and cash.
We have the ones that look like the LL Bean ones, only they are handmade by my mother. She stitched each child a stocking when they were born- each has a different Christmas image and their own name stitched at the top. Sadly, she died before she could finish one for baby #4. So #4 and #5 stockings had to be store bought (from LL Bean, so they would at least look similar) but they are not as good as the ones Grandma made for them. :-( Still they all treasure their special, personalized stockings.
