When you get a gift card as a gift do you spend it on yourself?

Usually I just treat it as cash. If it's for Target, say, I might just buy groceries or clothes for the kids. Either way, it benefits me because that keeps cash in my pocket for other things.

I've fallen victim to UrbanMomma's disease too! (Crazy contagious )

I LOVE gift cards though! 1 gift card = 1 free shopping trip

My sister just sent me 2 gift cards for Christmas. 1 for Walmart and the other for Chick Fil A! I will likely use them on stuff we need, which I think is stuff for me. Although I am sitting here typing in a new shirt and new sneaks I bought with cash money my inlaws gave me to buy something for myself!

I have that same disease! My MIL usually gives me money for my birthday (8 days before Christmas), and I always end up getting more Christmas presents for the kids with it. This year, she's taking me shopping and making me get some things for myself (we were supposed to have gone already, but her sister passed away right before my birthday )

My folks gave us a little $$ for Christmas, and we all went out to eat that night. Some was on us-and the kids-and we left a nice tip for the server.

I agree1 And I tried explaining that I enjoy spending it on other people, so that should count for something! Not to mention the after christmas clearance!

My mil always gets me a gift card to the local book store, I usually do spend half on me and half on the kids.
