I used to. But since we moved we aren't allowed. We live in a home that belongs to my Aunt and Uncle and they have a phobia about the house looking like a junk heap if we do that I'd love to do it again. It would save us so much in electric costs. Our electric company took the cap off and without any electric heat, we still pay over $500 a month!!

I would like to but I can't figure out where to put up a line. Maybe sometime. I do have a pole up in the basement and I hang a lot of our clothes to dry down there.

I don't have one. Occasionally, if I'm washing alot of towels and/or bedding on a nice day I will wash it here and take it to my mom's to hang out on her line. It actually serves two purposes, 1. I save money and time 2. the kids can run like crazy on her property for a while.

Yes! I even have a line up indoors for when I can't dry outside. I love hanging clothes outside, and we live in the country where most folks do. The indoor line looks trashy, but I don't care- the dryer costs us at least $75 per month!

EVERYTHING! We hand everything outside. We live out in the sticks, so it doesn't matter who sees our undies. We do have a dryer, but it's unpluged in the basement and hasn't been used in 3 weeks. We just do lots of laundry on nice sunny days. Our electric bill for our family of 9 averages about $80 in the summer. That includes 5 deep chest freezers and 2 refrigerators.

But I love my clothesline. It's almost "my time" alone.

We have a retractable clothesline. I just roll it out and hook it up on the tree and when I am done, roll it on back in. I do love to hang out clothes on the clothesline and sheets are my favorite out there!!

My only issue is towels and jeans end up soooo stiff out there. How do you keep that from happening?

I use a whole cap full of liquid fabric softner. I've never had a problem w/ them being stiff and they smell so nice!

ETA: If they are stiff, you can fluff them up in the dryer for 5-10 mins. Still saves money.

I hang stuff outside when it's nice enough, so may-ish to october. When it just starts then it's just towels and jeans, and when it's really warm then everything.

I also have an indoor line, I use it for towels and jeans and dh's work clothes, the things that take really long in the dryer. It's just big enough for one load, so that's all I hang down there.

I don't, but a retractable line sounds intriguing
