I recently saw the movie 'Food Inc' and I plan on buying organic from hereon in. I kind of want to wait until we move to Phoenix area and have Whole Foods and Trader Joes since it's cheaper than my local specialty department of my regular store. Just curious how many other moms feed organic.

I go in phases. Sometimes it all has to be organic and then other times I think it's just too expensive! There's not a very big selection at out store and what they do have is marked up ALOT!

I try to sometimes. In the summer, I try to grow as much of our own as possible. As for everything else, I just try to watch the HFCS, and all the preservatives in many foods. I make most things from scratch myself.

I agree with the pp's - organic is not always in our budget.

We do what we can to eat a clean diet, but going completely local/organic is way out of our league. I'd really like to, though. Buying only the "worst culprits" organic may be a more realistic approach unless you are able to triple your grocery budget (or more).

There are very few things I buy organic. To be honest, out here, a lot of the organic looks really bad, like they will rot the second I pay for them & leave the store. The quality is very low, and I won't get my money worth.

We can't afford it but in the summer we grow as much as possible. Then try and hit up the farmers markets.

Yup, same here. And our city is 5 hours away from the next big city so there's not all that much for variety.

Thanks for all the replies! We just went grocery shopping at a local store that does organic only and I spent over $300 for about 2 weeks worth of food. I may have to rethink this idea because that wasn't including household supplies, toiletries, and some of the kids favorite snacks... or diapers and formula. Sheesh. Now DH is on board and only wants free range chicken; he's sworn off red meat. Grrrreeeeaaatttt.

How about grass fed cows? Have him read about it if he hasn't already.
