a Moms club?

We have these moms clubs here that meet at a church once a month. They are all SAHM's with 2.5 kids. They organize playgroups and have topics to discuss. I hated it the first time I went. It wasn't exactly geared toward those with more than two kids.

Do you have anything like this in your area?

I joined meetup.com in my area when my oldest was 6 months or so. There's mostly just people with young babies having the meetups now, but I made most of my "mom" friends through there.

I have avoided those like the plague since my kids were very young; there were more gossipping, backstabbing, competition minded (my kid has 2 teeth & yours only has one!) type mothers that I didn't want a thing to do with.
I hate cattiness, I hate gossip and I'm not into the mine is better than yours mindset in lieu of being happy for yourself & others.

I'm jaded

No I haven't, but I'm thinking about looking for a homeschool co-op next year. It's pretty much the same deal I think, with some older kids and field trips thrown in as well.

I run one! But it's more of a prayer group than a Mom's Club. We have child care set up so that Moms can spend some time in prayer together, about 40 minutes. Then we visit for a little while. These ladies are some of my dearest friends in the world.

No. We only have one car so it's hard for me to make any plans.

EXACTLY how the one was that my first set of kids were in.

It was mostly older moms (the age I am now, lol) who treated younger moms (which I so am NOT anymore, lol) like we were doo doo under their feet. One would even steer her dd away from our kids if she went to play along side them.

I liked the one at my old church back home though, but for the fact women would use that time to discuss their sex lives which is a huge pet peeve of mine, LOL.

I don't think I will be doing mom's groups anymore. My best friends are the people who live in my home.

LOL....I actually found that too.

Shawna's church group sounds great. I wish there was something like that here.

No, I don't think that there's really anything like that here but I would like to join one.

As far as gossip, cattiness and backstabbing, well that is just small town life here. You can't keep people out of your business no matter how hard ya try. I found out today that everyone was saying that Brian and I had split up because he hasn't been around for so long, lol! People are so dumb .

The only thing around here is Teen MOPS, and i'm not a teen anymore AND the local breastfeeding group, which on their meeting thing said that older kids weren't welcome anyway.. oh well.

I get really lonely sometimes, but my husband is really my only "friend".
