They get to keep their priveleges, or get those returned if they were taken away b/c of bad grades...
These priveleges are things such as... TV, video games, computer, bikes, 4-wheelers, go-karts, being able to go to friend's houses, extended bedtimes on weekends, and later bedtime during the week for the older ones, etc...
As long as they keep their grades up, they are allowed those things. If the grades start slipping, these are taken away...
We don't believe in rewarding them for doing something they are supposed to be doing anyways... Now if they were to do exceptionally well on a hard test or keep all straight A's, that is a little different.
We usually do something extra on family fun night after the kids bring home good grades. Like sundaes or something. I've heard that you should pay them for good grades, to represent how employees get paid for a job well done. I don't do that though. Maybe when they are teens I will reconsider but I've also heard that if you over reward they grow up thinking every little thing deserves a reward. I'm not sure I want my adult children asking their boss for a piece of candy everytime they complete a task, lol!
