Hi girls! I have a question about baby's movement. This is my 5th pregnancy and I am 18 weeks today. I felt movement around 13 - 16 weeks and haven't felt anything since. When I went to the dr last week the dr had a hard time finding baby's hb so she did a real quick ultrasound and we were able to see the little beating heart on the screen but she's sending me to a specialist for my regular ultrasound on Nov. 8th. First my question is why do you think she's sending me to a specialist? She didn't mention anything that she thinks is wrong. I am very worried about all of it and am having a hard time getting super excited about this pregnancy because I'm so worried something is going to be wrong. I pray about it daily and am hoping everything turns out fine and I'm worrying for nothing. My second question is have any of multiple mama's not felt movement at 18 weeks? I am taking much longer to show this time and that also worries me. With all of my previous pregnancies once movement started it never stopped.

TIA ladies!

Well you are already ahead of me, I never felt any movement in any pregnancy before 20 weeks. Even then it would be off and on until maybe 24-ish weeks.

Personally, I think if you saw the heartbeat (sometimes finding it with a doppler can be hard when they are still so small) then everything is fine. It is my opinion that doctors are in the business for money, if they can order an extra test or find a way to charge your insurance more, then they will. Trust me they had me all worked up in my last pregnancy even though I know better.

I know it's hard not to worry, but try not to.

I would just call and ask the dr why they are sending you to a speacialist. It may be that they don't do anything other than quick scans in the office due to the quality of the equipment. At this point, getting some peace of mind as to why would totally be worth it.

As far as the movement, I usually don't really start feeling them until sometime after the 17 week.

I have used this same dr for all of my births so I know how she does things and she doesn't order every test just because of the money issue, though I DO know exactly what you're talking about and I hate that!!

When I asked about the ultrasound she just said it's a more indepth us and that it would be a level 2 and that they would spend more time doing it. I just think it's strange because she's always had me do normal ones. The movement is also strange to me because I've always felt movement and then maybe not for a day or so this early but not, nothing for more than 2 weeks. I know I'm probably worrying more than I should but it's hard after 4 perfect pregnancies.

Thanks again girls!

I think level 2 U/S are kinda the norm now a days. They just check the anatomy look at the cord, the blood flow and all that good stuff. It's nothing concerning, just a more in depth check.

As far as not feeling the baby move. It could be an anterior placenta? My 4th pg was that way and it took forever for me to feel her. It could just be that the placenta is now thick and covering the area by your belly button so you just don't feel the movement.

Every pregnancy feels different, don't forget that.
