Do you have family or friends that don't think anything of asking you to babysit because you have older kids that can help?

I'm trying to not be annoyed but my brother will ask us to babysit for silly reasons, like a short trip to the grocery store, not the I'm buying for the week/2weeks kind of trip. I mean it really isn't any trouble to watch them. My niece is 6 and plays well with my girls and my nephew is 2. Everyone goes on about how he gets into everything, even my brother, but he does fine while here. Now he wants us to watch him and I think my niece overnight so they can go away for the night. Dh thinks I should just say no. Only big thing that bothers me about are petty reasons, imo and are poor little ole me. We do have a lot going on, I'm in nursing school and clinicals wipe me out, will be 32 weeks pregnant, and we homeschool, but I really don't see why we couldn't do this for them....

There are two ways I look at this:

1) If you can do it, do it and be a blessing.

2) If your husband does not want you to do it, don't do it.

It really doesn't matter why or if you get anything back from your brother over time. It just comes down to if you can/want to or not. I have no problem with you saying no. I would have no qualms with doing it, either. If you get to the point where it is bothersome or you are being meaner to the kids than you should because you are mad at your brother, though, you shouldn't. Not saying you do that, just an example of when I needed to stop babysitting for friends.

That's a good way to sum it up.

I've practically raised my brothers kids. They spent every weekend with me up until the oldest turned 12. I'm still very involved in their lives but I to take a few steps backs when I realized I was being used and lied to a lot (by the kids not my bro). I still love them to death and they know it but they also know they can not be negative influences on my children.
