I'm currently 9 weeks and 5 days with Baby Bean #7. About 3 weeks ago, I was laying in bed and could really feel my uterus The Hubs and I just chalked it up to me being pregnant so many times before. Fast forward to last Saturday when I began spotting and cramping. My Ob sent me to the ER where they did blood work and did an ultrasound. My HCG was great, almost 65,000 and the ultrasound showed that baby was right on target and I had a small subchrionic bleed, not surprising. I was sent home with instructions to rest (yeah right), drink plenty of water and call the doctor. This week I noticed my uterus was already half way between my belly button and pubic bone Impossible considering Baby Emma is only 16 weeks.

I saw my OB in her office yesterday and mentioned how big my uterus felt to me. She suggested it was most likely from prior use, I disagreed and told her, "No! It's WAY big!" When she did the examine on me, her eyes about popped out of her head. I'm measuring 7 weeks ahead of where I should be. This is totally impossible! That would put me at almost 17 weeks, Baby Em just turned 16 weeks and The Hubs and I didn't uh hum until I was 5 weeks PP, not to mention the very regular period I had on 12/26. So.....here's my concerns. My OB thinks the ultrasound didn't date the pregnancy correct and she's arguing with me. I think, we're having twins and one is hiding. I go Monday morning to see a specialist to figure out what exactly is going on.

1. Could I really be measuring that big due to having 10 pregnancies? 6 living children, 2 miscarriages, we lost twins at 23 weeks due to placental abruption and this pregnancy....

2. Could an abdominal ultrasound at 8 weeks 6 days really be off by 7 weeks??

3. Or is the most likely reason because I'm having twins??

Has anyone ever experienced something like this and what was the outcome??

Thanks Mommas!!

Your dates are most likely not off. It could be a hiding twin but you'll just have to wait and see on that one. I know with my last that I grew up way before I grew out so I was at my belly button at like 15 or 16 weeks.

I am 7 weeks 4 days and I noticed this AM that I could feel my uterus a couple of inches above my pubic bone, and we only saw one at a 6 week 2 day u/s last week.

Could it be you were having twins and with the bleeding lost one?
I hope it turns out that you are having twins and that one was hiding.
I'm still holding out that hope for myself with this pregnancy. Though she saw them clearly at 8 weeks and only found one at 21 weeks, I would think that by then it would be pretty hard for them to hide.

Amber ~ I'm secretly hoping that the u/s tech just didn't look long enough. I know he only took 1 pic of the baby and 16 of my ovary *rolling eyes* But on Saturday we weren't looking for twins, only for the source of the bleeding. Funny, but he never even measured the h/b. He found the baby, did his measurements and then rolled me out of the room. He didn't tell me anything, say anything or even let me see the baby.

Mommy ~ You never know, stranger things have happened before! If we are only having 1 baby, I'm okay with that! All I pray for is a very healthy baby. But Twins....Oh! I'd be so excited! lol Crazy, I know!

I hope it's twins!!

I had one pregnancy where I measured two weeks bigger but that's it. I've measured right on track with this one. Mine aren't as close together as yours, I'm not sure if that would play a factor or not.

My guess would be twins also. 7 weeks off sounds impossible to me. How could it be THAT wrong?

Also my only subchorionic bleed was when I was in early pregnancy with my twins. Not sure if it is more common with twins or not, but just wanted to share.

I will be sure to post Monday as soon as I know what's going on!

cnote ~ That's what I said! I would have had to be the one to do that ultrasound for it to be that off. How in the world could an ultrasound tech and a radiologist get it THAT wrong??

With my 2 subchrionic bleeds, they were both singleton pregnancies, but both girls too. I also believe I had one with the twins I lost. Too many of the same things occurred during that pregnancy that had occurred with my girls.

If this is pregnancy number 10 I would dare say your uterus has stretched all it's going to, and if it feels bigger to you then it is. While an ultrasound could have gotten a date wrong, usually it's only plus or minus 1 week, definitely not 7. Since you've been pregnant with twins before we know you're capable of conceiving them, they are more common the more previous pregnancies you've had and the older you get.....I'd put my money on twins. My fingers are crossed for you, I always wanted a set! lol
Good luck at the specialist.

Well..... With baby #3 I was measuring 40 weeks at 30 weeks. I saw a perinatologist who diagnosed me with polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid). Baby measured right on though. This pregnancy, I am HUGE. I was measuring 2 weeks ahead and I thought for sure when I had my ultrasound they would tell me I had extra amniotic fluid again, but nope. Baby is measuring only 4 days ahead, amniotic fluid looked normal. He commented about how much room there was in there though. My uterus has just been stretched out so many times that it's already made plenty of room.
I'm sure they will look for twins and check other causes. Sometimes, we just measure bigger though. It's just an average and there will always be someone that measures bigger and someone that measures smaller. I can't wait to hear what they say.

I am 11 weeks pg with number 9, and I'm meansuing 14-15 weeks at my appt last week, so it's def possible . My pg number 8 measureed right on, so I'm not sure why this one feels the need for all the room, but I guess that's the way it is.

Good luck!
