that (on average) a gallon of milk costs more than a gallon of gas?

I'd never really thought about it until clouise's post. But seriously, I'm thankful that cars don't run on milk, lol!

I got my milk at 2.29 at walmart and my gas was 3.59.
\I remember reading somewhere though that when you buy single serve waters it is more per gallon than a gallon of gas. For water! Ha!

Are you guys getting skim milk?
I seriously cannot remember when milk was under $3 a gal. The price doesn't jump around as much as gas does but it does cost more around here.

Man, what I wouldn't give to get milk for less than $2.

It was .20 cheaper a couple weeks ago and I thought this spike was going to make me crazy. At the grocery store it is about 3.69 but at BJs/Costco/Aldi's/Walmart and strangely enough at gas stations I can find it cheaper.

Another strange fact.

At gas stations 1% is the cheapest, and the rest are all equally more expensive.
At the other stores where the milk is cheap the price goes up incrementally from skim to full fat.

At the grocery store all the milks are the same price.

Yes, I spend too much time comparing milk prices.

Lol! Now that you say all that, I do know that in the next town over there is a grocery store that we can get 15 gals of gas at for significantly less than any other gas station. Just depends on how much you spend at their store on certain products.

I'm going to start checking out the gas stations for milk!

Oh and our Aldi's has milk priced at $3.39/gal, cheaper than the stores. Skim milk was $2 something, that's why I asked.

I am at the other end of it, so although I might sympatize with how much you have to pay for it, I know how much it costs to produce it. The price of everything is related to gas, these rising gas prices means that it will cost a lot more to put our crops in to grow feed for the cows, and there's a whole list of stuff that costs more just because our rising gas prices. I wonder how high it will go.

I'll join the bandwagon of wishing that cars could run on milk. Milk is cheaper than gas here. Skim milk costs more than whole when there is a price difference. I typically buy 2%, it was 2.34?? I think at Target yesterday. Organic milk is even more expensive around $6 a gallon. Around here they charge more for healthier choices, figuring people who are being watchful will pay whatever the price. I even noticed that canned vegetables cost more to buy no salt added than the ones that have salt added. That didn't make any sense to me, they add salt but charge less.
