Does anyone grow fruits, veggies, and/or herbs in containers?

What do you grow?

What kind of containers do you use?

I bought some containers last year for this purpose but didn't do it. This year I'm determined to grow something. We have access to my mother's vegetable garden every year but I want something of our own.

Hoping for a couple tomato plants, some peppers, radishes, spinach and maybe zucchini and green beans if possible. I think I'd like to do a pot of herbs too.

I don't know where you are, but here spinach and radishes are cold weather plants.

I have done tomatoes and herbs in containers. They were GREAT! I used 5 gallon buckets our wheat comes is and drilled holes in the bottom for drainage. I saw some premade stuff at Tractor Supply for raised beds and I really want to do that now.

Have fun!

I have done zucchini, tomatoes, green onions, lettuce, strawberry's and peppers. I had good success the only problem I found is that I had to water them twice a day or they would start to dry out.

I'm in MO but I doubt that matters. I have no clue when it comes to gardening, I'm just determined to do it. I've never known anyone that has grown spinach so climate here is probably a problem. I just really love spinach salads in the summer and was hoping to avoid buying it. Darn...

I am kinda worried it will take a significate amount of water. The chore will probably go to the kiddos but the bill will come to me. Hope it doesn't cancel out the savings. I'll have to keep track of that.

MO might be fine for spinach in the summer. FL is NOT!

Good luck!
